Creating a New User for Only the Touch App
The below article walks you through creating a new user in the Touch application. To request a new user for the Core system (i.e., MealSuite, Synergy, etc.) contact Support.
You can create a new user for only the Touch app for an account, and not the Touch Admin software. To do so, complete the following steps:
- In the Touch Admin software, from the left navigation pane, select User Management. The User Management screen appears, listing existing users.
- Click the Add New User button. The screen refreshes with the new user settings.
- Enter or select the following:
- Username - enter the username for the user that will be used to login to Touch.
- Email (optional) - enter the email of the user.
- Password and Password Confirmation - enter the password, and then confirm the password.
- From the Permission level, select user. This setting only allows the user access to the Touch app (and not the Touch Admin software).
- The next steps are to select the accounts the Touch user can access. From the list of available accounts, select the check boxes of the accounts the user requires access to. (Note that the accounts that are listed are the accounts that your user profile currently has access to.)
- Beside each selected account a Permission Profile drop-down appears. This determines what the user can access in the Touch app for that particular account.* From the Permission Profile drop-down for an account, select the permission profile to assign to the user for that account.
- Click the Create User button to create the user. You are returned to the User Management screen, where the newly-created user is listed.
*Permission profiles are set up by MealSuite Support. Reach out to Support if you require edits to a permissions profile. If you are MealSuite Support, see the following internal article Managing Touch Permission Profiles.
Adjusting Timeout Settings for a Touch App User
The timeout settings for a Touch App user profile determines how long the screen displays without user activity before automatically signing out the user. The timeout settings are associated with the permission profile that in turn is assigned to the Touch app user profile.
Contact MealSuite Support to increase or decrease the timeout settings for the Touch App. If you are MealSuite Support, refer to the following internal article: Managing Touch App Permission Profiles (INTERNAL).
Resetting Password for your Touch App User Profile
To reset your password for your Touch app user profile, complete the following steps:
- Select User Management. The User Management screen appears.
- Click the Edit button of the Touch Admin user profile whose password is to change.
- In the Password field, enter the new password.
- In the Password confirmation field, enter the new password.
- Click the Update User button. The password is updated and you are logged out of Touch Admin.
- Enter your new password to log back in.
Editing a Touch App User Profile
To edit an existing user profile for the Touch app, complete the following steps:
- From the left navigation pane, select User Management. The User Management screen appears, listing existing users.
- For the user profile you want to edit, click its Edit button. The screen refreshes with the user profile settings.
- Edit the following as needed:
- Username - enter the username for the user that will be used to login to Touch.
- Email (optional) - enter the email of the user.
- Password and Password Confirmation - enter the password, and then confirm the password.
-
Permission level - select the permission level of the user:
- superadmin (not available if your user profile is not superadmin) - can access all settings in Touch Admin.
- admin - can access standard settings in Touch Admin (i.e., superadmin settings are not available to the user).
- user - can access only the Touch app and not the Touch Admin software.
- Select or deselect the accounts the user can access or not. (Note that the accounts that are listed are the accounts that your user profile currently has access to.)
- Beside each selected account is a Permission Profile drop-down. This determines what the user can access in the Touch app for that particular account, and, if the user has access to Touch Admin (via the Permission level drop-down above), what settings they can access in Touch Admin. From the Permission Profile drop-down for an account, select the permission profile to assign to the user for that account.*
- Click the Update User button to apply your changes and return to the User Management list screen.
*Permission profiles are set up by MealSuite Support. Reach out to Support if you require edits to a permissions profile. If you are MealSuite Support, see the following internal article Managing Touch Permission Profiles.
Viewing Accounts a Touch App User Has Access To
You can quickly view the accounts that a Touch app user has access to. To do so:
- From the left navigation pane, select User Management. The User Management screen appears, listing existing users.
- For the user whose accounts you want to view, click its View User Access Rights button. The User Access screen appears, listing the existing accounts (screenshot below).
Note: If a user of an account is an internal MealSuite user (as indicated by the email address), the View User Access Rights button is not available.
You can edit the user profile by clicking any Edit button for an account, which brings you to the user profile settings screen (see Editing a Touch User Profile for more information on editing a user).
Restricting Access to the Touch App by Approved IP Addresses
A facility can restrict access to their Touch app by using only approved IP addresses. If the IP address of a device does not match an approved IP address, the user is denied access via the following message "Your IP address it not permitted to login. Contact your admin for authorization" (screenshot below).
To have the Touch app for your account be restricted via only approved IP addresses, please reach out to MealSuite Support. If you are MeaSuite Support, see the following internal article on restricting access to Touch by only approved IP addresses: Restricting Access to Touch by Approved IP Addresses (INTERNAL).
