About Containers
In a cafeteria style POS location, there may be the use of containers that diners will use to hold food sold by weight. For example, salad, soups, pasta, etc. The weight of these containers must be entered into the POS system so that it can do the tare calculation and the diner only pays for the weight of the food and not the container.
How do Tare Calculations Work on the POS?
On the POS side, when a weighted item is added to the ticket, the popup below appears that lists the container type that the diner has selected.
The POS user will select the container type, weigh the food, and enter the weight into the POS for it to perform the tare calculation.
