If your MealSuite account is set up with the MealSuite Connect interface module, then you can accelerate the setup and implementation of your MealSuite account by exporting a .csv file from your EHR system containing resident data, and then uploading that file to your MealSuite account.

Resident Data that Can be Accepted
MealSuite can accept the following resident data from a .csv file:
- ID
- MRN (medical registration number)
- Group
- Title
- First Name
- Middle Initial
- Last Name
- Gender
- Admit Date
- Facility Code
- Building
- Area
- Room
- Bed
- Diet
- Textures
- B Texture
- L Texture
- D Texture
- Fluid
- Dining Area
- Service Type
- Table
- Seat
Format of .csv File
The format of the .csv file is straightforward. It consists of column names corresponding to the exported EHR field names, and rows populated with the resident data.
Importing the .csv File and Mapping the Fields
When you import the .csv file, you will be required to map the column names in the file to the appropriate MealSuite fields. For example, you will map “First Name” from the .csv file to the “First Name” field in MealSuite. To import the file and do the mapping, complete the following steps:
- Open the Connect screen (People > Connect).
- Click the Mapping button. The Connect Mapping slide-out panel appears. Ensure you are on the People tab.
- Click the Import People button. The Load File section appears.
- From the File field, select the .csv file.
- Click the Upload File button. The panel screen refreshes with the Map and Import table.
- The left side of the table displays the column names in the .csv file. The right side of the table contains drop-down fields from which you can select the appropriate MealSuite fields to map to. You have the option of not mapping a column name by selecting Do Not Map This Field. However, at a minimum the following MealSuite fields need to be mapped to from their corresponding column name:
- First Name
- Last name
- ID
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Group
- When the mapping is completed, click the Import button to apply your changes.
Mapping Rooms and Diet Orders after .csv File Import
If EHR rooms and diet orders were included in the file, then these will need to be mapped to the specific MealSuite rooms and diet orders in your facility. See Resolving EHR Data Mapping Relationships for more information.
Importing Subsequent .csv Files
Note that if you import a subsequent file, MealSuite will remember the previous mapping relationships. And MealSuite only adds new information to the system from the file--it will not overwrite or delete any existing information.
