Creating a Storage Area
To create a storage area, complete the following steps:
- Select Tools & Setup > Facility Builder. The Facility Builder screen appears.
- Click the Storage Areas tab. A list of existing storage areas appears.
- Click the Add New button. The New Storage Area slide-out panel appears.
- In the Name field, enter the name for the storage area. Maximum character limit is 50.
- From the Storage Type drop-down, select the storage types the storage area supports. Note the following:
- If Frozen is selected, then no other storage types can be selected.
- If Refrigerated is selected, then Equipment and Paper cannot be selected.
- The physical organization of the storage area can be represented in the MealSuite storage area by adding sections and sub-sections. To add a section, click the Add Locations & Sub Locations link. The panel refreshes with the Storage location name field for you to enter the name of the section.
- To add another section, click the Add Location and Sub Locations link again to refresh the panel with another Storage location name field for you to enter the name of the section.
- If a section in turn has sub-sections, then click the Add Sub Locations link for that section. The panel refreshes with the Sub location name field for you to enter the name of the sub-section.
Note: Only two levels in the section hierarchy for a storage area are allowed. The system does not support three or more levels.
- When you are finished entering the storage area details, click the Save button at the top of the panel to apply your changes.
Editing an Existing Storage Area
To edit an existing storage area, complete the following steps:
- Select Tools & Setup > Facility Builder. The Facility Builder screen appears.
- Click the Storage Areas tab. A list of existing storage areas appears.
- For the storage area you want to edit, click its name link. The storage area slide-out panel appears for you to apply your edits.
- Rather than repeat the instructions here on editing a storage area, the same instructions can be found on above in the Creating a Storage Area article, starting at step 4.
- Ensure to click Save at the top right of the panel to apply your changes.
Note: Closed inventory worksheets are not updated when a storage area is updated.
Deleting a Storage Area
If there are no food/non-food items assigned to a storage area in your MealSuite account, then the storage area can be deleted.

To delete a storage area, complete the following steps:
- Select Tools & Setup > Facility Builder. The Facility Builder screen appears.
- Click the Storage Areas tab. A list of existing storage areas appears.
- For the storage area you want to delete, click its gear icon in the Actions column and select Delete.
- If no items are assigned to the storage area, then a delete confirmation message appears (screenshot below). Click OK.
- If items are assigned to the storage area, then the Location in Use pop-up appears (screenshot below).
- In the Re-assign food to drop-down, select the storage area to re-assign items to.
- Click the Move & Delete button to re-assign the items and delete the existing storage area.
