Comparing Resident/Patient Profile Data Between PointClickCare (PCC) and MealSuite
If your account utilizes a Connect interface to PointClickCare (PCC), then a PointClickCare tab is available on a resident/patient profile screen to display the data for a PCC resident/patient profile and the equivalent MealSuite resident/patient profile. The profile data is organized into the following sections:
Demographic
Room
Diet Order (Diet, Texture, and Fluid Types)
The MealSuite diet order (diet, texture, and fluid types) is displayed on the left in the MealSuite column and the mapped PCC diet order is displayed on the right in the PointClickCare Nutrition Order column. The mapping relationship of a PCC diet, texture, and fluid type to its counterpart in MealSuite is shown in parenthesis.

When Profile Data is Mismatched Between PCC and MealSuite
If profile information is changed manually on the MealSuite side, and that information differs from the PointClickCare side, a mismatch exists. When a mismatch exists, the following occurs:
-
The PointClickCare text on the tab is displayed in red, and the following message appears at the top of the screen:
"One or more field in the profile do not match the PointClickCare information available to MealSuite. You can update the MealSuite profile manually or use the Sync button to update all MealSuite fields to match the PointClick Care data.
- MealSuite data that is mismatched is displayed in red text. In the example screenshot below, the External ID on the MealSuite side was manually changed, and as such does not match the External ID on the PCC side.
Synching Resident/Patient Profile Data from PCC
If wanting to perform a sync to update MealSuite profile data to match the PCC profile data, click the Sync button (first screenshot below) in the PointClickCare tab, and then click Yes to the confirmation message (second screenshot below) that appears.
PCC Diet Order set as On Hold
A PCC diet order that is set as on hold in PCC is indicated as such with the On Hold text in the Status row. Note that a PCC diet order that is put on hold populates NPO to the Diet, Texture, and Fluid fields in the MealSuite resident/patient profile.
When the on hold status is removed from the diet order in PCC, then the Connect update process will return the previously-assigned diet order to the MealSuite resident/patient profile.
When a PCC Profile Has Multiple Diet Orders
A resident/patient profile in PCC has a current active diet order, and can also contain previous diet orders (i.e., historical diet orders). The active diet order along with the historical diet orders are all synced to the MealSuite profile. The means for MealSuite to handle these "multiple" diet orders is as follows:
In the Diet Order section, the active (i.e., current) diet order is listed in the leftmost PointClickCare Nutrition Order column. Historical diet orders are listed to the right, with the oldest in the farthest right PointClickCare Nutrition Order column.
The mapping relationship of a PCC diet, texture, and fluid to the MealSuite diet, texture and fluid is shown in parenthesis.
Note 1: At this time in the MealSuite system, only the current active diet order is used to control what foods are served on the personal menu (i.e., multiple diet orders are not considered in personal menu calculations). Any historical diet orders are informational only.
When a MealSuite resident/patient profile has historical diet orders, the system presents the following messages to indicate that only the active (i.e., current) diet order is applied.
| Conflict type | Message |
| Diet Type conflict | Conflicting diet types are assigned in PointClickCare diet orders. Only the most recent diet type has been assigned to the profile. |
| Texture Type conflict | Conflicting Textures are assigned in PointClickCare diet orders. Only the most recent Texture has been assigned to the profile. It is highly recommended addressing this conflict in PointClickCare. |
| Fluid Type conflict | Conflicting Fluid consistencies are assigned in PointClickCare diet orders. Only the most recent Fluid Consistency has been assigned to the profile. It is highly recommended addressing this conflict in PointClickCare. |
Diet Interventions
If a PointClickCare diet type is is mapped to a diet intervention, then that diet intervention is displayed in parenthesis beside the PCC diet type in the respective PointClickCare Nutrition Order column.
FAQs
How do I change/update information in PCC?
Because PCC (PointClickCare) is a separate platform that feeds information into the MealSuite system, instructions on using the platform to update information on PCC resident/patient profiles (e.g., diet orders, allergies, changing their room/bed assignment, etc.) are not covered in the MealSuite documentation. Please refer to the PCC proprietary documentation to change/update PCC profiles.
The PCC API response states that the OMPID is N/A?
This simply means the OMPID (Organization Master Patient ID) was not in the API response from PCC.
Note that each PCC resident is assigned a unique OMPID that remains the same across all PCC facilities.
If the profile is archived, can a sync still be done?
An archived profile will not prevent you from doing a sync. A sync is typically carried out if the profile is active in PCC. Therefore when the sync is done, the profile will be unarchived.
