About Sharing a Meal Plan
A meal plan can be configured for it to be automatically shared between residents in the same room. For example, assume John Doe shares the same room as his wife Jane Doe. If either is subsequently assigned a "shareable" meal plan, then the other will automatically be assigned the meal plan.
If a resident is currently assigned a "shareable" meal plan but is not currently sharing a room, then any resident subsequently assigned to their room will automatically be assigned the meal plan.
With MealSuite shareable meal plans, it is not necessary to assign both residents the same meal plan. You only need to assign the meal plan to one resident, and any other resident already in that room, or who subsequently moves to that room, will automatically be assigned the meal plan.

FAQs: Sharing a Meal Plan
Q: Do I have to assign the meal plan to both residents in the room?
No. The shareable meal plan only needs to be assigned to one resident in the room. Any other resident already in that room, or who subsequently moves to that room, will automatically be assigned the meal plan.
Q: Both residents are assigned to the same room, and one is assigned a shareable meal plan, but the second resident is not assigned the meal plan?
A "shareable" meal plan only looks for those in the same room at the time when the meal plan is assigned to a resident. If for whatever reason the meal plan is not being shared, then for the resident who is currently assigned the meal plan, first deactivate the meal plan, and then reactivate it, and the system should automatically assign the meal plan to the second resident.
Q: What if a resident without a meal plan moves to the room as a resident with a shareable meal plan?
The meal plan will be shared with the resident being moved to the room.
Q: What if the recipient of shareable meal plan already has a meal plan?
The shareable meal plan will not be shared with the recipient.
Q: What if the recipient of shareable meal plan moves to another room?
The shareable meal plan will stop being shared with the recipient.
Q: What if resident has their own meal plan that becomes suspended/deactivated, and lives in same room as a resident with a shareable meal plan?
The shareable meal plan will not be automatically shared with the resident whose own meal plan was suspended/deactivated.
For the resident with the shareable meal plan to share their meal plan, first deactivate the meal plan, and then reactivate it, and the system will automatically assign the meal plan to the second resident.
Q: What if the recipient of shareable meal plan is subsequently assigned their own meal plan?
The shareable meal plan will stop being shared with the recipient.
Q: What happens when the meal plan is suspended/deactivated for the resident originally assigned the meal plan?
The shareable meal plan will stop being shared with the recipient.
Q: What if three residents are in the same room? Will the meal plan be shared amongst the three?
Yes, the shareable meal plan will be shared with all three residents of the room if the residents are not assigned their own meal plans.
