About Menu Categories in the Touch Admin Software
Menu categories are ported over to the Touch Admin software from the Core system. You can view the menu categories and open a menu category to edit its POS-related settings.
Opening a Menu Category in the Touch Admin Software
To open a menu category in the Touch Admin software, complete the following steps:
- From Touch Admin, click POS Settings > Categories. The Item Categories screen appears.
- For a menu category, you can locate it from any meal period tab it is assigned to (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).
- For the category you want to edit, click its Edit button. The Edit Category screen appears.
- Make your changes as needed.
- Click the Update Category button to apply the changes.
Applying a GL Account to a Menu Category
To apply a GL account to a menu category, complete the following steps:
- Open the menu category.
- From the GL Account Override field, select the GL account.
- Click Update to apply your changes.
Note the following:
- GL accounts are set up by MealSuite staff. If you are MealSuite staff, see the following internal article: Setting Up External Account System Parameters in the POS > General Ledger (GL) Accounts.
- An individual POS product can be assigned a GL account that will override the GL account set for that product's assigned category.
Applying a Billing Code to a Category
To apply a billing code to a menu category or a non-menu category, complete the following steps:
- Open the menu category.
- From the Billing Code field, select the billing code.
- Click Update to apply your changes.
Note the following:
- Billing codes are set up by MealSuite staff. If you are MealSuite staff, see the following internal article: Setting Up External Account System Parameters in the POS > Billing Codes.
- Billing codes are mostly used for tracking bill-to-room charges and as such are included in a POS Bill to Room Export interface.
- An individual POS product can be assigned a billing code that will override the billing code set for that product's assigned category.
