Overview
In POS, there is the ability for servers to be assigned to tables. When a server is assigned to a table, their name appears on each assigned table in the Floor Plan view.
Prerequisites
To assign servers to tables, the following configuration must be set:
- A Server must have a POS Operator Profile in the System
- Give Permissions to a POS Operator who can Assign Tables to Servers (i.e., POS Operators)
A Server must have a POS Operator Profile in the System
A server must have a POS operator profile in the system to be assigned to tables. POS operator profiles can be added either via the Touch Admin software or the front-end POS Manager module. Refer to the respective set of instructions below:
-
Adding POS Operators (via the Touch Admin Software)
or - Adding POS Operators (via the POS Manager Module)
Give Permissions to a POS Operator who can Assign Tables to Servers (i.e., other POS Operators)
Assigning tables to servers/POS operators is itself done by a POS operator who has the permissions to do so. For a POS operator to be able to assign tables to servers, their profile must have the Can assign tables check box selected, as per screenshot below.
Permissions for a POS operator profile can be edited either via the Touch Admin software or the front-end POS Manager module. Refer to the respective set of instructions below:
-
Editing an Existing POS Operator (via the Touch Admin Software)
or - Editing an Existing POS Operator (via the POS Manager Module)
Assigning Tables to Servers in the POS
For a POS operator who has permissions to assign tables to servers, complete the following steps to do so:
- From the Tools menu at top right corner (first screenshot below), select Tables Assignment (second screenshot below). The Tables Assignment screen appears (third screenshot below).
- Tap the table that you want to assign to a server, and then tap the Assign button at top right corner (first screenshot below). The Search for Staff Member window appears (second screenshot below).
- Tap the Select button of the server who you want to assign to the table. The table appears with the server's first name and displayed with a colour to indicate it has been assigned.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 to assign other tables. Each set of tables assigned to a server appears with a separate colour identification.
- After the table assignments are complete, tap the Back button (first screenshot below) to return to the Floor Plan view, which now lists the server's name for each assigned table (second screenshot below).
Unassigning Table from a Server
In the Tables Assignment view (Tools > Table Assignment), tap the table you want to unassign from a server, and then tap the Clear Assignment button.
The server's name is removed from the table, and the table colour returns to grey.
Configuration Scenario of Limiting the Floor Plan View to Seeing only Assigned Tables
Because a server is represented as a POS operator, note the following configuration scenario that can occur:
If a server's POS operator profile is not assigned the Can assign tables option (first screenshot below), and the server signs into POS with their POS operator profile, then not only will they not be able to assign tables, but their Floor Plan view will only show the tables that have been assigned to them (second screenshot below).
However, if that server has not been assigned any tables, then when they sign into the POS, the Floor Plan view will show all tables.
