About Nutrition Labels (Menus)
The Nutrition Labels report generates one or more nutrition labels for each menu item selected in the menu report settings. Once the report is generated, you can print the labels using the appropriate label templates (discussed below).
When multiple diet orders (diet type/texture type combinations) are selected in the menu report settings, each report is separately listed in a consolidated report, with a table of contents as the first page listing each diet type/texture type combination.
Selecting Menu and its Settings to Determine Items to Print
Via Menus > Reports, select the menu and its associated settings (weeks, choices, diet/texture combinations, menu categories) to determine the items to print labels for. See the separate article Accessing the Menu Report Settings for more information and specific instructions.
Settings: Nutrition Labels
After selecting the menu its settings, then from the left side of the screen select the Nutrition Labels option (under Labels). The Nutrition Labels section appears for you to select the label settings.

Format
- Full Page - generates one label per page.
- 3 per page (3-1/4" × 8-3/8") - generates three labels per page for printing on Avery® Template Presta® 97187 or equivalent.
- 4 per page (3-3/4" x 4-3/4") - generates four labels per page for printing on Avery® Template 6878 or equivalent.
-
6 per page (3-1/3" x 4") - generates six labels per page for printing on Avery® Template 18664 or equivalent.
-
Order By - select how the nutrition labels are to be sorted:
- Alphabetical - nutrition labels are listed alphabetically by their recipe name, and are only printed once.
- Menu Category - nutrition labels are listed according to the alphabetical order of the menu categories (e.g., beverage, bread, cereal, etc.) of the label’s associated recipes. If a recipe exists in multiple categories, then its associated nutrition label is only listed once in the first menu category appearance. For example, if the cranberry muffin exists in both the bread and dessert menu categories, then the nutrition label for the cranberry muffin is listed with the items in the bread menu category because the bread menu category is before the dessert menu category alphabetically.
-
Appearance - nutrition labels are sorted via their associated recipes' appearance on the menu selected in the menu report settings. With Appearance selected, the Consolidate By setting appears with the following options:
- All - when there are multiple instances of a recipe (meaning it exists in different meal periods, days, weeks, menu categories, and choices), the associated nutrition label for a recipe only prints once.
- Week - when there are multiple instances of a recipe (meaning it exists in different meal periods, days, weeks, menu categories, and choices), the associated nutrition label for a recipe only prints once for the week that is selected in the menu report settings (only one week can be selected in the base settings).
- Day - when there are multiple instances of a recipe (meaning it exists in different meal periods, days, weeks, menu categories, and choices), the associated nutrition label for a recipe only prints once for each day it is being served for the week selected in the menu report settings.
-
Do not Consolidate - when there are multiple instances of a recipe (meaning it exists in different meal periods, days, weeks, menu categories, and choices), the associated nutrition label for a recipe prints for each instance of the recipe.
-
# of labels to print (per Recipe) - you can print more than nutrition label for a recipe by entering the desired number of labels to print in this field.
-
Include Contents & Ingredients (selected by default) - includes the recipe ingredients in the nutrition label.
-
Table of Contents - lists each recipe in a table of contents at the beginning of the report.
- Recipes Used As Ingredients - select this option to include the nutrition labels of recipes used as ingredients in other recipes. A label for a recipe used in an ingredient prints after the label of the recipe in which it is used as an ingredient, regardless of the sort order selected in the Order By field. In addition, the label uses the serving size equivalent of the recipe of which it is an ingredient.
