About Manually Removing Items from your Inventory list
You have the ability to remove an item from your inventory list, which is required if the item has been depleted and you will no longer be using it. When an item is removed from you inventory list, it is given the status of archived in the system, thereby allowing a record of removed items to be kept, and allowing you to re-add an item to the inventory list if needed.
A seasonal item, such as eggnog, is an example of removing and then re-adding an item. When you remove a seasonal item after the holiday season, it is given an archived status. When the next holiday season approaches, you can then locate the archived item, and re-add it to your inventory.
Manually Removing an Item from the Inventory List
Removing an item from your inventory list is done from the Inventory On Hand screen. Complete the following steps:
- From the left navigation pane, select Inventory > Inventory On Hand. The Inventory On Hand screen appears with the All Areas tab automatically selected.
- If you know the storage area that the item is currently located in, then click that storage area tab. If not, then stay on the All Areas tab.
-
Conduct a search for the item to be removed from inventory.
- For the item to be removed, click its cog wheel in the Actions column and click Delete.
- If the item currently has an inventory count, then the Remove Food modal appears for you to confirm that it is to be removed. Doing so will put the inventory count to 0. The modal also provides the option to instead move the item to a different storage area if needed via the Move To drop-down.
- Click the Confirm button. The item is given a status of archived in the system and removed from the inventory list.
Locating Archived Items that were Removed from the Inventory List
When an item is removed from you inventory, then it is given an archived status in the system. You can locate and view archived items via the Inventory On Hand screen. To do so, complete the following steps:
- Open the Inventory On Hand Screen (Inventory > Inventory On Hand).
- Open the Filters tools from the top menu.
- From the Status filter, select Archived.
- Click Apply to display items with an Archived status.
- You can search for a specific archived item via the Search field. And you can filter the items displayed on screen using the other filter tools.
Returning an Archived Item to the Inventory List
The means to return an archived item back to inventory is to add that item to the same storage area and same internal storage location that is was originally removed from.
For example, if the item was originally in the Dry Storage storage area on the Shelf 2 storage location when it was removed, then when you add the item back to the Shelf 2 storage location of the Dry Storage storage area, the Archived status on the item will be removed.
- You can add an item to a storage area and internal storage location via the Inventory On Hand screen. To do, see Adding Item to Inventory via the Inventory On Hand Screen.
- You can add an item to a storage area via an open Inventory Worksheet. To do so, see Adding Item to Inventory via an Open Inventory Worksheet. To move the item to the desired storage location after it has been added, see Moving Newly-Added Item to Desired Storage Location.
