Moving Items to a Different Storage Area
Via either the Inventory On Hand screen or an open Inventory Worksheet, you can move items to a different storage area.
Via the Inventory On Hand Screen
Via the Inventory On Hand screen, you can move a single item to a different storage area. To do so, complete the following steps:
- From the left navigation sidebar, select Inventory > Inventory On Hand. The Inventory On Hand screen appears with the storage area tabs at the top of the screen.
- You must enter the storage area settings to re-assign items to a different storage area. To do so, click that settings icon (
) on the tab of the storage area you want to open (first screenshot below). The screen specific to the storage area appears (second screenshot below).
- For the item to be moved to a new storage area, hover over it and click the Move To button. The options panel appears.
- From the drop-down in the options panel, select the desired storage area/storage location combination. The item is moved.
Via an Open Inventory Worksheet
Via an open Inventory Worksheet, you can move one or more items to a different storage area. To do so, complete the following steps:
- Select Inventory > Inventory Worksheets. The Inventory Worksheets screen appears, listing any existing worksheets.
- Click the name of the open worksheet to open it.
- Select the desired storage area tab.
- If moving a single item, complete the following steps:
- For the item to be moved, click its gear icon in the Actions column, and select Edit Location (first screenshot below). The Edit Location window appears (second screenshot below).
- From the Move To drop-down, select the desired storage area/storage location combination.
- If the item could be in two storage areas, then from the Also add product to drop-down, select the other storage area. For example, milk as a product could be in the main dairy fridge and a secondary fridge, and you want both storage areas to be considered during your inventory count.
- Click Save to apply your changes and close the window.
- For the item to be moved, click its gear icon in the Actions column, and select Edit Location (first screenshot below). The Edit Location window appears (second screenshot below).
- If moving multiple items, complete the following steps:
- Select the check boxes of the items to be moved, and then click the Bulk Edit button (first screenshot below). The Bulk Edit window appears (second screenshot below).
- From the Move To drop-down, select the desired storage area/storage location combination.
- If the item could be in two storage areas, then from the Also add product to drop-down, select the other storage area/storage location combination. For example, milk as a product could be in the main dairy fridge and a secondary fridge, and you want both storage areas to be considered during your inventory count.
- Click Save to apply your changes and close the window.
- Select the check boxes of the items to be moved, and then click the Bulk Edit button (first screenshot below). The Bulk Edit window appears (second screenshot below).
Moving Unassigned Products to a Storage Area
When a product is not assigned to a storage area, it is placed in the Unassigned tab on the Inventory On Hand screen. A product can end up in the Unassigned tab as follows:
- A file import in which the Storage Area column was not filled.
- Deleting a storage area with products inside.
To assign an unassigned product to a storage area, complete the following steps:
- On the Inventory On Hand screen (Inventory > Inventory On Hand), click the Unassigned tab.
- For the product you want to assign, click its Assign link from the Storage Location column.
- Your next steps depend if the product has quantity on hand or not.
- If the product has no quantity on hand, then the Assign Storage Location modal appears (screenshot below). From the Location Name drop-down, select the desired storage area/storage location combination, and click the Save button. The product is moved.

- If the product has quantity on hand, then the Assign Storage Area modal appears (screenshot below), giving you the ability to assign different amounts to different storage area/storage location combinations. Proceed with step 4 below.
- If the product has no quantity on hand, then the Assign Storage Location modal appears (screenshot below). From the Location Name drop-down, select the desired storage area/storage location combination, and click the Save button. The product is moved.
- Click the Add Storage Area link to refresh the modal with a new Storage Area and Quantity row. Repeat This step for the desired number of storage areas.
- From a Storage Area drop-down select the desired storage area/storage location combination, and in its associated Quantity field select the quantity to be stored. Repeat this step until all quantity on hand has been assigned, which is indicated by the blue progress bar in the modal.

When all quantity on hand is assigned, click the Assign button to apply your changes. The products are moved.
Note: When moving a product across different storage area/storage location combinations, the transaction history of the product creates a separate record for each storage area/storage location.
