About Pack Size and Weight for a Vendor Product
The pack size and weight of a vendor product is important because it is used to calculate the cost of a single serving of that product.
Pack size and weight consists of multiple parts. When a pack size for a vendor product is received on an order guide or product catalog, the MealSuite system has the means to parse that information so that it can be used for calculations in recipe and menu costs.
The tables below of example vendor products breaks down each of their pack sizes so as to give you an understanding of how vendor pack sizes and weights are accommodated in the MealSuite system.

Description of MealSuite Vendor Product Fields
The MealSuite Nutrition Services team will parse the vendor pack size and weight information to the MealSuite proprietary fields for a vendor product so that the system can perform the correct calculations. An end-user will be exposed to these proprietary fields when manually adding a vendor product.
The association of each MealSuite field to its level in the Assigned Pack Size for a vendor product is described below.
MealSuite Field | Level | |||
SU per Pack | Level 1 | |||
Items per SU | Level 2 | |||
Stock Unit | Level 3 (weight or volume amount, and associated unit of measurement) |
