About Recipe Ownership
When an account owns a recipe, then any of its child accounts will have access to that recipe. From a child's account position, a recipe owned by a parent account is a master recipe.
For a child account that created its own recipes, and is still currently the owner of those recipes, those recipes will not be available to any of its sister accounts (i.e. those at the same account level). However, those recipes will flow up to its parent accounts.
Changing Recipe Ownership from Child Account to Parent Account
A parent account has the ability to open a recipe owned by a child account and change the ownership to the parent account itself. Doing so will therefore make that recipe accessible to the parent's other child accounts.
As a parent account, complete the following steps to change the ownership of a child account's recipe to your account:
- Open the recipes listing screen and search for and open the desired child account recipe. If needed, use the search and filter tools.
- From the Recipe Owner field, select your account.
- Click the Save button to apply your changes.
- From the Recipe Box label, change the label from My Recipes to an appropriate label; for example, “Entrees Poultry”, “Entrees Vegetarian”, “Sides Vegetables”. Recipe boxes can also be created by system and corporate account for their purposes (see Recipe Box Labels for more information). Note that if you did keep the Recipe Box label as My Recipes, that recipe will not be available to your child accounts.
- Note that the Recipe Creator field becomes editable after your account becomes the owner of the recipe. The Recipe Creator field gives the original child account that created the recipe the recognition that it created the recipe. If needed, you can change the Recipe Creator field to your account or one of your other child accounts.
Changing Recipe Ownership from Child Account to Another Child Account
If a recipe is not in use by a child account, then a parent account has the ability to open a recipe owned by a child account and change the ownership to another child account.
As a parent account, complete the following steps to change the ownership of a recipe from one child account to another:
- Open the recipes listing screen and search for and open the child account recipe whose ownership you want to change. If needed, use the search and filter tools.
- From the Recipe Owner field, select the new child account to own the recipe.
- Click the Save button to apply your changes.
Note: If the recipe is currently in use by a child account (i.e., on a menu), and you attempt to change the owner, then a warning message appears. Click Cancel, Do Not Change the Owner.
