About the Personal Menu Nutrient Summary Report
For each person selected to be in the report, the Personal Menu Nutrient Summary displays the nutrient values being met from a personal menu against the ideal daily values. Specifically, the report displays the range of nutrients (or just the ideal value if no range is set) against the daily amount being met for those nutrients. The report generates nutrient values for current and future dates (the report does not generate nutrient values for a past date).
Selecting People to be in the Report
Select the people to be included in the report via the following separate instructions: Selecting People to be Included in Reports.
Report Settings
After selecting the people to be included in the report, select Nutrient Summary from the left side of the screen (under Personal Menu Nutrient Analysis). The Nutrient Summary section appears for you to select the report settings.
Printing for a Single Date or a Date Range
To print the personal menu nutrient summary report for a single day, enter the same date in the From and To fields.
Note: The personal menu nutrient summary report does not generate nutrient values for a past date; therefore a past date cannot be selected.
You can generate a personal menu nutrient summary report for a date range of seven days via the From and To fields.
Note: If the date range is more than seven days, the following message appears to prevent you from selecting it: The Nutrient Summary report can only be generated for a maximum of 7 days at a time.
Print by Day Option
With the Print by Day option, for each person, the report generates a separate page for each day in the selected date range.
For example:
- Page 1 - Nutrient Summary: Monday, August 5, 2024
- Page 2 - Nutrient Summary: Tuesday, August 6, 2024
- Page 3 - Nutrient Summary: Wednesday, August 7, 2024
Note: For a resident/patient on the NPO diet, the report will print for them, but the Ideal Value column will be blank and the Daily Amount values will be 0.0.
Print Total Average Option (if a date range is selected)
If a date range is selected, then the Print With Average option is available. With this option, for each person, the report generates the total average of all days in the selected date range.
For example:
- Nutrient Summary: Monday, August 5 - Wednesday, August 7, 2024
Note: For a resident/patient on the NPO diet, the report will print for them, but the Ideal Value column will be blank and the Average Daily Amount values will be 0.0.
Include Also Available Menu Items Option
By default, the Include Also Available Menu items is not selected. If selected, then the nutrient calculation considers items from your scheduled Also Available (AA) menu for residents with the advanced ordering service type and table select service type.
Note that for residents with the non-select service type, the nutrient calculation does not consider items from your scheduled Also Available (AA) menu.
How is Daily Amount (or Average Daily Amount if Date Range) Calculated?
The resident's assigned diet type and service type are considered for the daily amount calculation, or average daily amount calculation, explained as follows:
Non-Select Service Type
-
Single date - the daily amount of a nutrient is calculated from each menu item on the personal menu view for the date.
- Date range - the average daily amount of a nutrient is calculated from each menu item on the personal menu view in the date range, and then divided by the number of days in the date range.
Advance Ordering and Table Select Service Type
-
Single date - the daily amount of a nutrient is calculated from the average of items across each choice on the personal menu view.
For example (using calories):
Choice 1 items + Choice 2 items / Number of choices
70 + 75 + 73 / 2 = 109 calories daily amount
-
Date range - the average daily amount of a nutrient is calculated from the average of items across each choice on the personal menu view in the date range, and then divided by the number of days in the date range.
For example (using calories):
Day 1:
Choice 1 items + Choice 2 items / Number of choices
70 + 75 + 73 / 2 = 109 calories
Day 2:
Choice 1 items + Choice 2 items / Number of choices
68 + 74 + 71 / 2 = 107 calories
Day 3:
Choice 1 items + Choice 2 items / Number of choices
70 + 72 + 69 / 2 = 106 calories
109 (day 1) + 107 (day 2) + 106 (day 3) / 3 = 107 calories average daily amount
Different Services Type Across Meal Services
-
Single Date - the daily amount of a nutrient is calculated from each service type per its single date calculation above, and then summed together.
- Date Range - the daily amount of a nutrient is calculated from each service type per its single date calculation above, and then summed together, and then divided by the number of days in the date range.
Note: For the advanced ordering and table select service types, the nutrient calculation considers items from an Also Available menu.
Determining Nutrients to be Displayed in the Report
The nutrients to be included in the Personal Menu Nutrient Summary report are selected via Tools & Setup > Recipe Tools > Key Nutrients tab. See Selecting Key Nutrients for more information.
Determining if Nutrient Ideal Value or Ideal Value Range is Displayed
The lower and maximum value range, and the ideal value, for a nutrient is set within each diet type via the Diet Order Settings screen (see Viewing/Changing Nutritional Parameters of a Diet Type).
If a nutrient has both a Lower value and a Max value, then its range is displayed in the Ideal Value column of the report. In the example screenshots below, Sodium is set with both a Lower value and a Max value, and that range is shown in the Ideal Value column in the report.
If a nutrient does not have both a Lower value and a Max value, then its ideal value is displayed in the Ideal Value column of the report. In the example screenshots below, Sodium does not have a Lower value, and hence its Ideal value is shown in the Ideal Value column in the report.
FAQs
The Personal Menu Nutrient Summary report is printing for a resident/patient on an LOA?
This is recognized as a current issue, and will be addressed in a future release. Until then, do not include a resident/patient who is on an LOA in the report (see Selecting People to be in Reports).
Why are the daily amount nutrient values so high?
The Include Also Available Menu Items option is selected. When selected, the nutrient calculation considers items from your scheduled Also Available (AA) menu for residents with the advanced ordering and table select service types. leading to the higher nutrient values.
Deselect (i.e., clear) the Include Also Available Menu Items option to not include nutrient calculations from your Also Available menu.
