About Personalized Menus
For residents with the table select service type and the advanced ordering service type, it can be configured that a POS revenue center presents their personal menu for ordering, rather than the standard menu offerings.
For example, if the resident is on a non-regular diet order, then their personal menu will contain the therapeutic items that have been extended for the regular menu items. In addition, any customizations done directly on the personal menu, such as the addition of personal menu items, will also be available to order by the resident at a POS revenue center. Note, however, that dislike and like preferences for a resident are not indicated on a POS revenue center.
When enabling personalized menus at a POS revenue center, then for any residents/patients with the non-select service type or any resident/patient on NPO (nil per os), the location will not present any menu items or products when their name is assigned as a diner at the POS revenue center.
Enabling Personalized Menus at a POS Revenue Center
To enable personalized menus for a resident at a POS revenue center, complete the following steps:
- In your Core account, open the service settings of the POS revenue center.
- Select the Use resident personalized menus check box.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the Save Changes button to apply your changes.
Note 1: The Use resident personalized menus option only applies to a POS revenue center. It does not apply to the Portal app when it is used for POS orders (i.e., paid orders). At this time, only menu items of the regular diet type and regular texture type are available to order on the Portal app for POS orders (i.e., paid orders). Extended substitute items are not available to order, nor are any personal menu customizations (e.g., personal menu items or substitutes).
Note 2: If the Portal app is configured to place non-paid orders (i.e., Portal for Advanced Orders), then the items available to order by a resident/patient are automatically from that resident/patient's personal menu (i.e., meals are personalized to a resident/patient's dietary and therapeutic needs, and will include personal menu items). Because the personal menus appear automatically on the Portal app, the Use resident personalized menus option is not a factor.
Note 3: With the Use resident personalized menus option selected, the system will prevent any menu items appearing for a resident/patient with the non-select service type or on NPO (nil per os) when their name is assigned as a diner at a POS revenue center. Regarding placing paid orders with the Portal app, as noted in Note 1 above, at this time the Use resident personalized menus option does not prevent a resident/patient with the non-select service type from placing paid orders with the Portal app.
FAQs
Does the "Use resident personalized menus" option need to be enabled so that allergens are displayed for a diner on the POS ordering screen?
No. When a diner with an assigned allergen is assigned to an order in the POS, then that allergen is listed below any affected item that is associated with the allergen, as per screenshot below.
Also note that for the POS Dining Room type, the assigned allergen also appears at the top of the ordering screen, as per screenshot below. For a POS Quick Service type, the assigned allergen does not appear at the top of the ordering screen.
