Questions and Answers from Webinar
How do I add columns to the People Listing?
See Setting Preferred Columns on the People Listing Screen.
If I change my column setting under my log-in name, would it also change the settings for others using MealSuite in the same facility?
The column settings are based on your own login name and settings.
Can the People Listing be filtered by date of birth?
Date of birth is not a current filter on the People Listing page; however you can click on the Date of Birth column to sort the listing by that field.
If we don’t see any additional tabs at the top of the people listing, is that because we only have one floor?
It would mean you only have one people group currently. People groups are not required, but they can be helpful if you’re looking to better organize your people. Click here for more information.
Can people be assigned to more than one group? That is, if I make a diet texture group of puree and a group by dining room, can people be assigned to both groups?
For the people groups, a person can only be part of one people group; therefore we recommend that people groups are based off of your care levels.
I have a resident in AL that comes up on the Connect report every day for the past couple months to acknowledge his shellfish allergy. I have tried sync with PCC, mapping, and we even went in PCC and deleted the allergy and re-added. Nursing has not been changing anything in PCC but he continues to show daily in the Connect messages.
It seems that the message may have been stuck initially and needs to be reviewed, please reach out to our Support team by starting a chat, emailing Support@mealsuite.com or giving us a call!
If we don't have MealSuite activated yet but work with people reports and tray tickets; if we select the "non select" for a patient, will the system still choose a meal for them (on their ticket we print)?
You would need to have a menu defined and scheduled to work with tray menu tickets. Then with a patient who is set to non-select, the system will choose a meal for them and you can generate a tray menu ticket. See Tray Menu Tickets Report (People) - for Non-Select & Advance Ordering.
Does the Advance Ordering service type create a selection menu?
The Advance Ordering service type uses the select menu logic based off a person's assigned diet order and personal menu preferences. Available items for selection are viewed in the Person-Specific Select Menus Report (People) - for Table Select & Advance Ordering or Tray Menu Tickets Report (People) - for Non-Select & Advance Ordering.
If you are using Touch Smart Service with Advance Ordering you will be able to electronically place an order for your residents/patients.
How do you add an allergen to your account if its not on the list already?
See Creating an Allergen Group.
Can we assign different textures at different meals?
Yes, MealSuite allows you to assign different texture types for different meal periods or snack times. This feature accommodates the varying needs of residents/patients throughout the day.
See Manually Assigning Different Texture Types.
I have residents that eat table select or advanced ordering depending on their personal preference each day. Is there a way to easily toggle the resident at the time of meal service to place an instant order rather than having to go to the People Listing to change the resident each time?
The service type must be defined on the profile in the core MealSuite system. This controls whether the person appears in Touch using Instant Ordering or Advance Ordering. You can utilize the bulk edit feature to to more quickly and efficiently update multiple people at once if needed.
Would you be able to build a fluid restriction intervention that 1/2 portions all fluids/beverages/dairy on trays?
Yes, you can create an Intervention to accommodate this scenario. When defining the criteria, you could define the serving size adjustment for the affected menu categories such as the menu category of Dairy, the menu category of Beverages, the menu category of Soup, etc.
See Implementing a Fluid Restriction for a Resident/Patient
You would also need to ensure the menu items on your menu are placed within the correct menu categories; see Changing Menu Category of a Menu Item.
Will the diet interventions print on tray tickets?
Yes, you can include the diet intervention name on tray tickets by selecting the Diet Intervention check box in the tray menu ticket report settings.
Is there a toggle the show interventions on the ticket report settings?
Yes, there is a Diet Intervention check box in the tray menu ticket report settings.
How do I add the CHCP option to my diet order list?
Going to Tools & Setup > Diet Orders you can view the current diet types available (see Working with Diet Orders). You can edit the display name for existing diet types. You may need to use the +Add New button to request a new diet type. If you are part of a corporation, you may need to work with your corporate team regarding requesting a new diet type.
How do I do a visible egg allergy only for someone who can eat food containing some eggs?
Currently you should see a Dislike Like group called Eggs Visible (see Displaying the Likes & Dislikes Groups Available to your Account This group can be edited to add in the needed foods (ingredients) or prepared foods (see Likes & Dislikes Group: Adding Ingredients, Prepared Foods, Recipes.
When working on a resident's personal menu, you can define a do not serve for this group (see Marking a Likes & Dislikes Group as Do Not Serve). This would remove any items in the group from the resident's personal menu. Alternately you can create a brand new group then add the appropriate items to your group (see Creating an Allergen Group).
If I change the portion size for an item on someone's Personal Menu in the system, would it show when you’re placing an order in the Point of Sale?
Yes, adjusting the portion size of menu items on the residents personal menu in the Core MealSuite system flows to the Point of Sale system to display the adjusted portion size.
Do preference groups appear on the allergy report?
No, the preference groups (currently known as Like/Dislike Groups) do not display on the Allergen report. These are separate from Allergens. Generating the Dietary Profile report and the Meal Service report can display information such as a Do Not Serve to a group of Corn as a Vegetable.
How can I remove a certain menu item off of a resident personal menu?
See Marking an Individual Item as Do Not Serve.
I've had to add an allergen and had to manually enter all foods that had the allergen, will this be fixed?
If you're creating your own allergen groups you will still need to add the food items to your newly created allergen group. You are responsible for any group you create. You can add items to existing groups as well.
See Creating an Allergen Group and Allergen Group: Adding/Removing Food Items.
Do the service notes appear at point of service?
Yes, in a dining service style they appear in a drop-down to the right of the person's diet order and residence.
Where would you display "double gravy" customization if not in the service notes?
We recommend adding the gravy as a personal item where needed, and then defining the portion size as a double portion.
Do profile notes (pulling from PCC) only pull from orders? Or will anything in care plan and dietary interventions pull?
These pull from the orders; not everything would be pulled into the profile notes.
Does personal fallback settings supersede the AA menu fallback?
The Also Available Menu is used first when selecting a fallback substitute. If the options from that menu are exhausted, the last resort is to use the personal fallback substitute defined on the residents' profile.
If I dislike an item, will the other option be automatically provided?
If the resident is non-select, and your scheduled menu has a suitable alternate item on the menu then yes, the system will serve the second option. See Non-Select Service Type: Item Selection Logic for a Personal Menu
If the resident is Advanced Ordering and you do not enter an order for the resident, the system will serve the alternate item to the resident. See Advanced Ordering Service Type: Item Selection Logic for a Personal Menu.
If the resident cannot have the alternate item due to an allergen or Do Not serve, the item defined as a dislike is served as a last resort.
Can you turn off reused order for Advance Ordering?
No. At this time, there is no ability to disable the reuse order functionality for Advanced Ordering.
Can we differentiate between two orders from the same floor (with two different dining areas) in instant ordering?
If you have two dining rooms on the same floor, then each dining room can have its own KMS (Kitchen Management System) screen and/or printer.
Orders taken in dining room 1 can be directed to the KMS screen/printer in dining room 1, while orders taken in dining room 2 can be directed to the KMS screen/printer in dining room 2.
Would you recommend putting a dislike in the service notes section on a select menu?
We would still recommend using the dislike option on the personal menu.
How do we print Date of Birth on tray tickets?
Select the Date of Birth check box on the Tray Menu Ticket report settings.
How many diet interventions can you have for a resident?
There is no limit to the number of diet interventions you can assign; however we do recommend careful consideration of diet interventions required with the appropriate information defined within each diet intervention.
Is there a way to limit when table select orders can be entered (between a certain time frame)?
No, there is not an option to limit when table select orders can be entered.
If an intolerance is added in as a "do not serve", will the advanced ordering on tablets prevent them from ordering it, like it will block allergies?
Yes. Items marked as "do not serve" are not presented as items for advanced ordering.
How can I reduce the display size in production reports if there is a gluten free resident?
When generating production reports from the core MealSuite system, the report criteria allows for you to select the desired font for the printing of the report.
If you are using production reports in the Touch app, then for the Kitchen Production Sheet there is an option to search foods. And for each production report in the Touch app, there is an option to use the magnifier symbols to increase or decrease the display.
Is there any way you can override the Off Premise? We find it won't print tray tickets for a future date, if a resident is off premise at the time of printing.
Ensure the off-premise is defined not just for the date range, but also for the first meal period (breakfast, lunch, dinner) to be missed (i.e., not served) on the first LOA day, and the last meal period to be missed (i.e., not served) on the last LOA day. See Marking a Person as Off-Premise/On-Premise (LOA).
If off-premise is properly set up, then a future tray menu ticket can be printed for a resident currently on LOA. For example, if the resident is due back on Saturday after lunch, you can print the tray menu ticket for the Saturday dinner.
If you use "off premise", will this adjust your production numbers?
Yes, it will adjust your production numbers so you're not producing food for someone who will not be present.
Where would I find my facility's location code for the Portal app for advanced ordering?
Your implementation specialist may have sent that over in a little login cheat sheet. If not, and you can log into the Touch Admin and you'll see it on the login page!
Where do we find a report that gives a list of diet interventions?
When printing reports such as the Dietary Profile report and the Meal Service report, this information is included.
When printing reports such as the Tray Menu Tickets report and the Select Menus report, there is an option to print the diet intervention via the Diet Intervention check box.
Is it acceptable to type personal adaptable devices in the service notes? Is there a better place for these?
I would recommend adding these as personal items on the personal menu; that way they're included as necessary items for each meal. See Adaptive Aides (Equipment) for more information and instructions.
We use PCC. Will it input to this system?
We do connect with PCC! So yes, if you have chosen to purchase the PCC Connect interface. it will bring over your people data from PCC.
If there are ONLY certain residents that get snacks, can the snack report include ONLY these on reports?
If there is no scheduled snack menu but there are person-specific snacks on the resident profile, the Snack Delivery Worksheet includes only people receiving a snack.
Is there a way to capture any information regarding guest meals?
If your guests pay for meals it is recommended to use Point of Sale (POS) and associated POS reports for that type of information.
Is there anyway to come back and enter those client-selected choices into the system and then print as non-select tray meal tickets?
Orders cannot be entered directly into MealSuite.
If you have Advance Ordering, the Tray Menu Tickets report will include the ordered items.
In addition, there is an option to not send Advanced Orders to a KMS screen or a printer if required.
Why is "Always Available" greyed out when I am looking at a personal menu?
This is likely caused by no Also Available (AA) menu scheduled at the same time and at the same menu service location. The AA Menu needs to be scheduled and assigned to the same menu service location the resident is dining at.
