About Recording Temperatures via the Touch App
You can record the temperature for a food item in the Touch app either via the Kitchen Production Sheet or the Service & Delivery Production Sheet.
Prerequisites
MealSuite Support Task: Enable Temperature Tracking
The ability to track temperatures is enabled by MealSuite Support. If you are MealSuite Support, complete the following steps to enable food temperatures to be recorded for an account:
- In the Touch Admin software, click Account Settings. The Edit Location screen appears.
- Select the Enable Temperature Tracking check box a
- Scroll to the end of the screen and click the Update Facility button to apply your changes.
Set Up Bluetooth Thermometer Probe (if using)
If using a Bluetooth thermometer probe, the probe will automatically enter the temperature so that you do not have to enter the temperature manually. Ensure the probe is configured for use; see Setting Up the Food Thermometer Probe for instructions to do so.
Recording Temperature on Kitchen Production Sheet
- Run the Kitchen Production Sheet (click here for instructions to do so). The food items generated in the report appear as follows:

To first see the cook temperature for a recipe, click its icon at the top right. The details open in a separate pop-up window (second screenshot below).
- For the menu item whose temperature is to be recorded, tap its Record button for Cook. The Record Temperature pop-up appears.
- If needed, select the temperature type (F -Fahrenheit or C - Celsius). Note that the default temperature type is automatically selected based on your account settings. Please contact MealSuite Support to change the default temperature type for your account. If you are MealSuite Support, see the steps below for changing the default temperature type for the account: MealSuite Support Only: Selecting the Default Temperature Type for an Account.
- If you are using a Bluetooth thermometer probe, insert the probe into the food and press its Record button (i.e., button with three lines). The probe records the temperature and sends it to the Temperature field.

- You can also manually enter the temperature by tapping into the Temperature field, and the pop-up changes to the number pad for you to enter the temperature and then tap Submit.
- In the Staff name field, enter your name. Note that if you had previously entered your name, the system remembers it.
- Tap the Add Temperature button. You are returned to the main screen, where the newly-recorded temperature is listed for the item.
- If corrective action is required on the temperature, use the other temperature Record buttons to record the temperature (screenshot below). Depending on your Touch setup, it may also allow you to associate a corrective action type (e.g., "Reheated"). Note that these corrective action types are created in the Core system; see Creating Corrective Action Types for Food Temperatures for instructions to do so.
Recording Temperature on Service & Delivery Production Sheet
- Run the Touch Service & Delivery Production Sheet (click here for instructions to do so). The food items generated in the report appear as follows:
- For the menu item whose temperature is to be recorded, tap its Record button for Temp 1. The Record Temperature pop-up appears.
- If needed, select the temperature type (F -Fahrenheit or C - Celsius). Note that the default temperature type is automatically selected based on your account settings. Please contact MealSuite Support to change the default temperature type for your account. If you are MealSuite Support, see the steps below for changing the default temperature type for the account: MealSuite Support Only: Selecting the Default Temperature Type for an Account.

MealSuite Support Only: Selecting the Default Temperature Type for an Account
To set the default temperature type for an account, complete the following steps:
- In The Touch Admin software, select Account Settings. The Edit Location screen appears.
- From the Default Temperature Unit drop-down, select the account's default temperature type (Fahrenheit or Celsius)
Note: For a US account, Fahrenheit is automatically selected. For a Canadian account, Celsius is automatically selected.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the Update Facility button.
FAQs
Is there a way to see the cook temperature of the recipe?
If taking a temperature on the Kitchen Production Sheet, then you can click the icon at top right corner of a recipe to see its details, including cook temperature.
At this time, there is no method to see the cook temperature of a recipe on the Service & Delivery Production Sheet.
Once temperatures are recorded, where do I find them?
Once temperatures are recorded, you can find them in the Food Temperature Log report within the Core system. See Running the Food Temperature Log Report.
