Splitting an Item for Shared Payment
For an item that was shared between diners at the same table, that item can be split for payment across selected diners at the table. To do so:
- Prior to the checkout process, tap the item that is to be split. The Split Item button appears.
- Tap the Split Item button. The Split Item pop-up window appears, listing the other diners at the table.
- Select the check boxes of the diner(s) to split the item with. The system automatically adjusts the amount owed by each selected diner. The first screenshot below shows two diners selected each with their owed amount, and the second screenshot below shows three diners selected each with their owed amount.
- Tap the Confirm Split button. The screen refreshes to indicate that the item is being split with one or more diners at the table.
- If required to re-adjust the split or cancel the split entirely, then click the Edit Split button, and the Split Item pop-up window appears for you to re-adjust or to cancel the split via the Remove Split button.
- Continue with the checkout process. On the Checkout screen, the ticket of the diner with the split item shows the other diner(s) involved in the split, each with their shared cost. For the other diner(s) involved in the split, their tickets display the item being split with their shared cost.
- Continue with the payment process as per standard steps.

FAQs
What happens if there is a discount involved for the split item?
If a discount is applied to the item that is being split, then the system calculates the split using the post-discount cost and not the pre-discount cost. In the example screenshot below, the pre-discount cost of the Grilled Chicken Sandwich is $8,00 and the post-discount cost is $6.80. The amount to be split is therefore $6.80.
What happens if the diners involved in the split have meal plans?
If any diner involved with a split item has a meal plan, then their meal plan will cover the cost of the split item as per standard.
