Where do notes for POS orders Display?
The POS has the ability to enter three different note types on a POS order. These notes are listed below along with the areas in the system where the note displays or not.
| Note Type | |||
| Ticket Note entered on POS | Item Note entered on POS | Write In Modifier (i.e., open text modifier) entered on POS | |
| Printed Ticket at KMS Station | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Onscreen Ticket at KMS Station | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Printed Receipt | No | No | Yes |
| Transaction Lookup from POS | No | No | Yes |
| POS Reports* | No | No | Yes** |
| Order History Report | No | No | No |
| Order History from the Portal App | Yes | No | Yes |
*Includes the POS detailed reports (run from the Core system), and the POS summary reports (run from the Core system and the front-end POS Manager).
**A write in modifier only appears on a POS report if that report supports the displaying of items from orders.
Why is there a blue lock on a diner's seat tab?
A blue lock on a diner's seat tab (at the top of the screen) indicates that their order is currently open by another POS user and as such is locked and cannot be opened.
Tapping the seat tab displays a message that the seat is currently being edited by another POS user.
Why is there a blue lock on a diner's ticket?
When you tap the Checkout button for a diner's order, the Checkout screen appears displaying the diner tickets. For the diner whose Checkout button you tapped to access the Checkout screen, a blue lock appears beside their name to indicate that you had tapped their order to access the Checkout screen. Any other POS users attempting to access that order/ticket will be prevented from doing so.
Is there a way to restrict the times that POS orders can be placed?
No. Orders can be placed via the POS at anytime. The POS processes paid orders; so therefore it is up to the facility when they want to open a POS location or not to process paid orders.
There is the ability to determine when meal periods (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are automatically switched over in the POS, but it doesn't prevent the user from selecting another meal period time. For instructions on setting the times when a meal period switches over, see Entering End Times for Meal Periods (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) at a POS Location.
Can a tip or gratuity be added to a bill upon payment?
No. At this time the POS does not support the addition of a tip/gratuity to a bill upon payment.
Can nutrition information be viewed for an item on the POS?
No. Nutritional information for an item cannot be viewed at a POS station. However, there is the ability to print nutrient information on a receipt, which must be enabled by MealSuite Support. If you are MealSuite Support, see Displaying Nutrients on POS Receipts.
When paying one or more tickets (i.e., checks), can the tickets be merged?
No. At this time you cannot combine/merge tickets (i.e., checks) for a single payment.
Is there a way to register a charge for an item from a previous business day?
No.
How do I change the timeout settings before being automatically signed out due to inactivity?
The timeout settings for the POS can be adjusted by MealSuite Support.
If you are MealSuite Support, the timeout setting is set in the Automatically logout users after X seconds field in the POS location; see Configuring a POS Location (INTERNAL).
