About an End of Day Report
You can run an End of Day report for either the previous day or current day for your POS location. When running an End of Day report, you will be able to easily access any unpaid and non-closed tickets so that you can take appropriate action on these tickets to ensure the End of Day report is accurate.
An End of Day report is run via the POS Manager module via the Closing The Day feature, explained below in this article.
For MealSuite Support: Enable the End of Day Report
The Day End of Day report in is accessed via the Closing the Day option in the POS Manager module. The Closing the Day option must be enabled for a POS user's associated Touch Admin user profile via their permissions profile for their account.
To enable the Closing The Day option for a POS user's associated Touch Admin user profile, complete the following steps:
- In the Touch Admin software, select User Management > Profile Management tab. The Profile Management screen appears, listing any existing permission profiles.
- For the permission profile to be edited, click its pencil icon in the Actions column. The Edit a profile screen appears.
- Select the Closing the day option in the Mobile App Permissions section (screenshot below).
- Click the Update Profile button to apply your changes.
Opening the Closing The Day Screen
- In POS, from the Tools menu at the top right of the screen, select POS Manager. The POS Manager screen appears.
- Select Closing the Day (first screenshot below). The Closing The Day screen appears (second screenshot below).
Note: If you do not see the Closing The Day option in the POS Manager module, it indicates your POS Manager user profile is not enabled with the option. Contact MealSuite Support to enable this option. If you are MealSuite Support, see the above steps to enable the Closing The Day option for a user.
The Closing the Day screen is organized as follows:
- From the top left, you can select to run the report for either yesterday or today. Today's date is listed on the right in the Date Report Printed field.
- If any tickets are currently open, then these are indicated on the left side of the screen in the following categories:
- Unpaid Orders - Open - lists the currently unpaid tickets, including only partially-paid tickets.

Paid Order(s) - Open - lists the currently paid tickets that were not closed.
- Until all tickets are paid and closed the report states This is NOT the final report for the day watermark at the top right of the screen. If you print or email the report, the watermark will be generated also on the report.
- When all tickets are paid and closed the watermark reads Report is Completed. If you print or email the report, the watermark will be generated also on the report.
- The End of Day report data is listed on the right and is organized in the following categories:
- Sales - displays tax exempt sales and taxable sales.
- Sales Adjustments - displays discounts, voids and refunds.
- Taxes - displays each tax type in the POS.
- Meal Plan Redeemed - displays each meal plan type in the POS.
- Payments - displays each tender type in the POS (e.g., VISA, Mastercard, Gift Cards, Cash)

House Credit Accounts - displays each house credit type (e.g., bill to room, charge accounts)
In the # column, each type displays the number of times it was involved in a transaction. For example, if the Federal Tax was involved in 20 transaction and the State Tax involved in 15 transactions, then the Federal Tax line displays 20 and the State Tax line displays 15.
Paying and Closing Unpaid Tickets
- Open the Closing The Day screen.
- Click Unpaid Orders - Open on the left. The Unpaid Order(s) - Open screen appears, listing each unpaid ticket.
- To pay and close a ticket, click the Pay & Close button for the ticket and go through the payment and close process.
Voiding an Item or Individual Ticket
- Open the Closing The Day screen.
- Click Unpaid Orders - Open on the left. The Unpaid Order(s) - Open screen appears, listing each unpaid ticket.
- For the ticket to void or item on the ticket to void, click its Edit button. The Edit Order screen appears with the Void button available.

Performing a Bulk Void of Unpaid Tickets
If you only have certain tickets you want to void, then you can first pay and close the required tickets, and then instead of individually voiding the remaining tickets, you can perform a bulk void. To do so:
- Open the Closing The Day screen.
- Click Unpaid Orders - Open on the left. The Unpaid Order(s) - Open screen appears, listing each unpaid ticket.
- At the bottom left of the screen, click the Void All button.
- From the confirmation message that appears, click Yes.
Closing Paid but Open Tickets
- Open the Closing The Day screen.
- Click Paid Orders - Open on the left. The Paid Order(s) - Open screen appears, listing each open ticket.
- At the bottom of the screen, click the Close All button. The tickets are now closed.
Emailing the End of Day Report
The currently-listed data in the End of Day report shown onscreen can be generated in a PDF for email. To do so:
- Click the Email button (first screenshot below). The Email End of Day Report pop-up window appears (second screenshot below).
- From the Email field, enter an email address. Or from the the right side of the screen choose from a list of recipients that you had previously emailed.
- Click the Send button. The report is emailed.
Printing the End of Day Report
The currently-listed data in the End of Day report shown onscreen can be printed at your ticket/receipt printer. To do so:
- Click the Print button. The report is printed.

Viewing the Last End of Day Report that was Generated
To view the last End of Day report that was generated, complete the following steps:
- In POS, from the Tools menu at the top right of the screen, select POS Manager. The POS Manager screen appears.
- Select Reports (first screenshot below). The Reports screen appears (second screenshot below).
- Click into the End of Day Report row to open its details.

No, not at this time.
Can you run the report for different POS Locations
When running the End of Day report, the report is specific to your POS location. A future release will allow you to switch between POS locations.
