Determining if Parent Account Manages Production Areas
To determine if your parent account manages the production areas and menu item assignments.
- Select Production > Assign Production Areas. The Assign Production Areas screen appears.
- If beside the Manage Production Areas button there is a “Managed by [Account]” (as per screenshot below), then it means your production areas are managed by that parent account.
Another means to determine if your parent account manages production areas is as follows:
- Select Tools & Setup > Manage Facility. The Manage Facility screen appears.
- Select the Production Areas tab.
- If the production areas are greyed out and therefore not editable (as per screenshot below), it indicates that your parent account manages the production areas.
Taking Ownership of Production Area Management from Parent Account
If your parent account manages production areas and menu item assignments, then you can take ownership of the management if needed. The existing production areas and menu items assignments will stay in your account; any future changes by your parent account to production areas and menu item assignments will not flow down to your account. To take ownership of production area management from your parent account, complete the following steps:
- Select Production > Assign Production Areas. The Assign Production Areas screen appears.
- Click the Manage Production Areas button. The following message appears stating that the production areas from the parent account will be copied to your account and any updates from the parent account will no longer apply.
- Click the Create a New Production Area to Maintain My Own Production Areas button. The production areas from the parent account are copied to your account for you to now manage. You are also taken to the Tools & Setup > Manage Facility > Production Areas tab where you can add, edit, and delete productions areas.
Another means to take ownership of production area management from your parent account is as follows:
- Select Tools & Setup > Manage Facility. The Manage Facility screen appears.
- Select the Production Areas tab.
- Click the + button at the bottom left of the listed production areas. The following message appears stating that the production areas from the parent account will be copied to your account and any updates from the parent account will no longer apply.
- Click the Create a New Production Area to Maintain My Own Production Areas button. The production areas from the parent account are copied to your account for you to now manage and assign/unassign menu items.
About Menus Copied from a Menu Template
If your account has taken ownership of its production areas, then note the following:
- For any existing menus that had been copied from a menu template, the menu item-production area assignment initially created by the parent account is maintained in your account.
- For any future menus that you copy from a menu template, the menu item-production area assignment initially created by the parent account is not maintained in your account.
Returning Ownership of Production Area Management to Parent Account
You can return the ownership of production area management to your parent account. Doing so will replace your production areas and menu item assignments with your parent account's production areas and menu item assignments. To return ownership of production area management to your parent account:
- Select Tools & Setup > Manage Facility. The Manage Facility screen appears.
- Select the Production Areas tab.
- Click the refresh icon (indicated in screenshot below).
- The following confirmation message appears stating that any of your account’s production areas and menu item assignments will be deleted (to be replaced by your parent account's production areas and menu item assignments).
- Click the Clear My Data and Use Parent Account’s Production Areas button.
Editing Name of Production Area
If your account manages its productions areas, then you have the ability to change the name of a production area. To do so, complete the following steps:
- Select Tools & Setup > Manage Facility. The Manage Facility screen appears.
- Select the Production Areas tab.
- Edit the name of the production area and clicks its Save icon.
Adding and Publishing a Production Area
If your account manages its productions areas, then you have the ability to add a production area. To do so, complete the following steps:
- Select Tools & Setup > Manage Facility. The Manage Facility screen appears.
- Select the Production Areas tab.
- Click the + button at the bottom left of the listed production areas. A new empty field appears in the list.
- Enter a name for the production area and click the Save icon.

With the production area now created, your next step is to publish it. To do so, click the grey check mark. The check mark turns green to indicate that the production area is now published.
- With the new production area now added and published, you can assign items to it. To do so see Assigning Menu Items to a Production Area.
Deleting a Production Area
If your account manages its productions areas, then you have the ability to delete a production area When you delete a production area, any assigned menu items will become unassigned. To delete a production area:
- Select Tools & Setup > Manage Facility. The Manage Facility screen appears.
- Select the Production Areas tab.
- Click the X icon of the production area to be deleted. A confirmation message appears stating that any menu items assigned to the production area will become unassigned.
- Click the Delete Area and Unassign All Items button.
Sorting Production Areas
You can change the sort order of the production areas to determine how they display within the system. Note that if your parent account manages the production areas, you as the child facility account are still able to sort the production areas for your account. To change the sort order:
- Select Tools & Setup > Manage Facility. The Manage Facility screen appears.
- Select the Production Areas tab.
- Click and hold the = icon of the production area to be sorted and drag it to the appropriate spot. Repeat for other production areas.
Unpublishing/Publishing Production Areas
Unpublishing a Production Area
If your account manages its productions areas, then you have the ability to unpublish a production area. Unpublishing a production area means it will unassign any assigned items, and the production area will not be available for selection in the system. To unpublish a production area:
- Select Tools & Setup > Manage Facility. The Manage Facility screen appears.
- Select the Production Areas tab.
- Click the green check mark icon of the production area to be unpublished. A confirmation message appears stating that any menu items assigned to the production area will become unassigned.
- Click the Unpublish Area and Unassign All Items button. The production area is unpublished, as indicated with a grey check mark. The check mark turns green to indicate that the production area is now published.
Publishing an Unpublished Production Area
To publish an unpublished production area:
- Select Tools & Setup > Manage Facility. The Manage Facility screen appears.
- Select the Production Areas tab.
- Click the grey check mark icon of the production area to be published. The check mark turns green to indicate that the production area is now published.
- A production area that was unpublished will not have any items assigned to it. To assign items to a production area, see Assigning Menu Items to a Production Area.

FAQs
I have added a production area, but it is not available for selection in the system?
This most likely means the production area is not published. See Publishing an Unpublished Production Area above, and then assign the menu items to the newly-published production area (see Assigning Menu Items to a Production Area).
