Assigning Menu Items to a Production Area
If your account manages its productions areas, then you can assign menu items to a production area. To do so, complete the following steps:
- Select Production > Assign Production Areas. The Assign Production Areas screen appears.
- Your next steps are to determine the menu items to be displayed onscreen that will be available for you to select for assignment to production areas. You can do this by conducting a search by keywords via the Search field at top right corner, and also using the following filters:
-
Menus - by default, the currently scheduled menus are selected. If needed, select non-scheduled menus to display their items.
-
Menu Category - filter the items displayed by their assigned menu category. Note that it is recommended to only select a single menu category to make it easier for you to find the items to assign.
-
Cook Method - filter the items displayed by their cook methods.
-
Type - filter the items displayed by their type: prepared food, recipe or non-food item.
-
Include Recipes used as Ingredients - recipes and prepared foods that are ingredients within recipes (i.e., sub-recipes) are displayed.
-
Include Personal Menu Items - personal menu items and substitutes on personal menus are displayed.
-
Include Fluid Substitute Items - items in the fluid substitution grid are displayed.
-
Menus - by default, the currently scheduled menus are selected. If needed, select non-scheduled menus to display their items.
- After applying the above filters, click the Go button to refresh the left column with the menu items.
- From the field above the right column, select the production area to which you want to assign items.
- Your next steps are to select the items to assign to the selected production area. There are numerous options to select items:
- Select an individual item by clicking it.
- Select multiple items by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking the desired items.
- Select a range of item by clicking the first item in the range, then holding down the Shift key, and then clicking the last item in the range.
- Select all items by selecting the Select All check box.
- With the items selected, click the Assign button. The items are moved to the right column and are now assigned to the selected production area.
Unassigning Menu Items from a Production Area
If your account manages its productions areas, then you can unassign menu items from a production area. To do so, complete the following steps:
- Select Production > Assign Production Areas. The Assign Production Areas screen appears.
- From the field above the right column, select the production area from which you want to unassign items.
- You can conduct a search for a specific item you want to unassign via the Search field at the top right corner.
- Alternatively, if wanting to unassign multiple items, you can also employ the filters (explained above).
- Your next steps are to select the items to unassign from the selected production area. There are numerous options to select items:
- Select an individual item by clicking it.
- Select multiple items by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking the desired items.
- Select a range of item by clicking the first item in the range, then holding down the Shift key, and then clicking the last item in the range.

- With the items selected, click the Unassign button. The items are moved to the left column and are now unassigned from the production area.
Reassigning Menu Item to Different Production Area
An item can only be assigned to one production area. If it is necessary to reassign an item to a different production area, then you can select the All Items filter in the left column to display currently assigned items, and then select the item and assign it to the new production area. The system will automatically unassign it from its original production area.
Note: You can only reassign menu items if your account manages its productions areas.
Hiding Items from Production Report that do not need to be Produced
By default, items that do not need to be produced, such as juice, soda, broths, supplements, equipment, etc., and therefore not assigned to a production area, are still listed on a production report in a section titled “Unassigned”.
To hide items on a production report from the "Unassigned" section on a production report, complete the following steps:
- Add a production area with an appropriate name that indicates the items in it will not be produced, such as "No Production". (See Adding a Production Area).
- Assign the items that do not need to be produced to the "No Production" area. (See Assigning Items to a Production Area).
- In the base settings of the production reports, do not select the "No Production" production area from the Production Areas filter.
- Generate the report.
