Wireless Tablet Requirements
Wireless tablets running Touch or POS require a dedicated SSID or a secure corporate network.
The tablets should not be added to any form of a guest or public network.
An MDM (mobile device management) service with restrictive policies, automatic OS updates and app management should be used.
Although most updates are pushed over automatically to the devices with no intervention required, a manual app installation will be required when there are core application updates.
MealSuite offers an MDM service for a monthly fee that includes remote management and updates.
If not using the MealSuite MDM, then an iOS device must run iOS 13 or later, and an Android device must run version 11 or later with 6 GB of RAM recommended.
Touchscreen Monitor Requirements
Touchscreen monitors must be purchased through MealSuite to be supported with the Touch app.
Although the touchscreen monitors have built-in WiFi, MealSuite recommends hardwiring the monitors, especially in the kitchen or any environment that has kitchen-like appliances, such as a toaster. If not hardwired, then such devices can impact the quality of the signal and result in a poor user experience.
Note: If it is necessary to connect a touchscreen monitor to your Wi-Fi network, please contact your MealSuite MealSuite Support. For an Elo® monitor, connecting it to your Wi-Fi network first involves retrieving an “unlock” password from MealSuite Support. Once you retrieve this “unlock” password, see Connecting Elo® Touchscreen Monitor to Wi-Fi for instructions to connect the monitor to your wi-fi network.
Printer Requirements
The MealSuite POS only supports the Star Micronics line of printers that have the CloudPRNT interface.
Each printer should be wired onto a secure corporate network or a dedicated VLAN. Each printer requires a dedicated ethernet line and speaks directly to the MealSuite datacenter via HTTPS.
See also Installing and Configuring a Star Micronics Printer.
TranCloud Server and PIN Pad Requirement
The TranCloud server is a physical 5”x 5” device from Datacap that allows the communication between the PIN pads and Datacap. Datacap is used by MealSuite as an intermediary between the POS and the facility’s credit card processor (e.g., Heartland Payment Systems).
The TranCloud server must be connected directly to the LAN on either the same subnet as the PIN pads (wired or wireless), or have internal routing set up to permit unrestricted communication internally.
PIN pads such as the Ingenico Lane/3000 use a single ethernet connection to connect to the TranCloud server. The Ingenico Move series connect to the server through WiFi. Upon installation, the PIN pads will require a static IP or a DHCP reservation.
See also Installing and Configuring PIN Pads.
Temperature Sensor Requirements
A single Ethernet connection is required per temperature sensor gateway.
The gateway communicates via HTTPS to an AWS S3 range to post the results.
Individual sensors should be within 1,500 feet of a gateway and absent of concrete-dense environments.
Administrative Dashboard Requirements
A modern web browser is required to use the administrative dashboard.
Supported - Google Chrome™, Microsoft® Edge, Firefox™ and Safari® are supported.
Not Supported - Internet Explorer 11 or earlier is not supported.
