About Removing Items from a Menu

Removing an item from the menu involves removing the regular diet order item, which in turn will remove any of its therapeutic substitutes that are extended to the therapeutic diet orders.

An item can be removed from either the week-at-a-glance (WaaG) view or menu day view. Refer to the appropriate set of instructions below.

Removing Items when on the Week-at-a-Glance (WaaG) View

To remove an item when on the week-at-a-glance view, complete the following steps: 

1. Open the menu to the week-at-a-glance (WaaG) view. 
   
   
2. For the item to be removed, hover over it and click its Edit icon (). The Edit Menu item pop-up appears (second screenshot below). 
   
   
   
   
   
   
3. Click the Delete button. 
   
   
4. If the item is only available in one instance (i.e., one meal period, day, week), then a confirmation message appears. Click Remove to remove the item. 
   
   
   
   
5. If the item is available in more than one instance (i.e., more than one meal period, day, week combination) then the Remove Item pop-up appears with two options:
   • The first option allows you to remove it from the one instance (i.e., meal period, day, week) the menu item was accessed from.
   • The second option allows you to remove the item from all instances (i.e., all meal period/day/week combinations). 
     
     
     
     
6. After making your selections, click the Delete button. A confirmation message appears. Click Delete to this message.
   
   
7. A success message appears and the items are removed.

Removing Item when on the Menu Day View

To remove an item when on the menu day view, complete the following steps: 

1. Open the menu to the menu day view.
   
   
2. For the item to be removed, click its Settings icon (...), and select Remove Item. 
   
   
   
   
3. If the item is only available in one instance (i.e., one meal period, day, week), then a confirmation message appears. Click Remove to remove the item. 
   
   
   
   
4. If the item is available in more than one instance (i.e., more than one meal period, day, week combination) then the Remove Item pop-up appears with two options:
   • The first option allows you to remove it from the one instance (i.e., meal period, day, week) the menu item was accessed from.
   • The second option allows you to remove the item from all instances (i.e., all meal period/day/week combinations).

FAQs

Why can’t I remove an item from my menu?

When you open the menu to the menu day view, by default you are viewing the regular diet order items. Regular diet order items can be removed from the menu, which in turn will remove their therapeutic substitutes that are extended to the non-regular diet orders.

However, if you are viewing the therapeutic substitute items (by clicking the Diet/Texture button and selecting the non-regular diet order), the system does not allow you to remove those substitute items. Therefore, do not click the Diet/Texture button to view items of a non-regular diet order. 

Note: If the item was directly added to the non-regular diet order on the menu (i.e., outside of the regular item's extension grid), then it can subsequently be removed from the menu.
