What is a POS Location?
A POS location is a designated area in a facility that a POS device is logged into to process transactions. A POS location can be one of four types:
- Dining room - tableside service (e.g., restaurant) in which diners are seated.
- Quick service - quick service style (e.g., cafeteria) in which diners come through a line and pay at a cashier station.
- Self-service kiosk - allows for diners to place the orders on their own without the involvement of a POS operator.
- Service - a location in the facility offering non-food services (e.g., spa, exercise, hair, etc.).
A POS location is configured with specific settings that determine its operational parameters, such as pricing and payment methods. For a POS location that serves food, its configuration settings determine the menu items and the KMS location that orders are sent to.
