Setting Minimum and Maximum Order Limits for AO and IO in the Touch App
For advanced ordering (IO) and instant ordering (IO) in the Touch app, a menu category of each meal period (breakfast, lunch, dinner), you can set the minimum amount of items that must be ordered and the maximum amount of menu items that can be ordered.
For example, for the vegetable menu category at dinner, a minimum of one vegetable item must be ordered and a maximum of three vegetable items can be ordered; whereas for the entrée category, a minimum of one must be ordered, but also a maximum of one. To set the order limits for menu items:
- In Touch Admin, select Ordering Settings > Category Settings. The Category Settings screen appears, listing the menu categories for each meal period. Note that menu categories are created in the MealSuite site; see Menu Categories for more information.
- Select the desired meal period (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) from the top row. The screen refreshes with the menu categories set up for that meal period.
- Select the Edit button of the menu category that you want to set order limits for. The Edit Category screen appears.
- In the Order minimum field, enter the minimum amount of items that must be ordered for the category/period.
- In the Order maximum field, enter the maximum amount of items that can be ordered for the category/period.
- Click the Update Category Meal button to apply your changes.
What Happens on the AO and IO Screens?
With minimum and maximum orders set up for a menu category, the following occurs on AO (advanced ordering) and IO (instant ordering ) screens:
- On the order screen for a diner, the minimum and maximum amounts are listed beside the category name.
- If attempting to add an item that exceeds the maximum, a prompt appears stating the maximum has already been reached, and the item will not be added.
- If saving the order when the minimum for one or more categories has not been met, a prompt appears stating such and gives you the option to return to the order to add the minimum items or to override the minimum limit and continue with the order.
Displaying Full Complement Choices on AO and IO Screens
On the Advanced Ordering (AO) and Instant Ordering (IO) screens, the full complement of items belonging to a choice can be displayed by tapping the respective Choice button (e.g., Choice One button). You can then easily add all items from a choice by tapping the Add All button (as indicated in screenshot below).
Enabling the Choice buttons to display on the AO and IO screens is done in the Touch Admin software. To do so, complete the following steps:
- In Touch Admin, select Ordering Settings > Configuration.
- Scroll to the Menu Choices section.
- Select the Enable for Instant Ordering and the Enable for Advance Ordering check boxes.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap the Update Ordering Configuration button to apply your changes.
Enabling the Automatic Completion of Choices
The ordering can be configured so that when viewing items of a non-choice 1 (e.g., choice 2), and for a given category there is no item, then the system will show the item from choice 1 for that category.
For example, on the dinner menu, assume the choice 1 item for the entree category is steak, and that there is no choice 2 item for the entree category. The Touch app can be configured so that when viewing the choice 2 items, the choice 1 item for the entree category (i.e., steak) will show.
| Core Menu Choice 1 | Core Menu Choice 2 | Touch App Choice 1 | Touch App Choice 2 | |
| Entree Category | Steak | - | Steak | Steak |
| Vegetable Category | Salad | Carrots | Salad | Carrots |
| Beverage | Wine | Beer | Wine | Beer |
Enabling the automatic completion of choices feature is a two-step process:
- Step 1: Enable the Auto-Complete Choice Function for AO and IO
- Step 2: Enable the Auto-Complete Choice Function for a Meal Service/Category
