What is Flexible Diet Order Mapping?
For a PointClickCare (PCC) diet order, flexible mapping is available to map that diet order to multiple MealSuite "diet order" data points in your account. These MealSuite data points are as follows:
- One diet type in your account.
- One texture type in your account.
- One fluid type in your account.
- An unlimited number of diet interventions.
You can apply flexible diet order mapping via the Mapping screen (recommended) or the Connect screen when resolving a message. Refer to the appropriate topic below:
- Applying Flexible Diet Order Mapping when on the Mapping Screen
- Applying Flexible Diet Order Mapping when on the Connect Screen or the People Listing Screen
Applying Flexible Diet Order Mapping when on the Mapping Screen
- From the left navigation sidebar, select People > Connect. If a message appears to inform you of the number of Connect messages that require resolving (first screenshot below), click Go To Mapping. The Mapping screen appears (second screenshot below).
- If you are brought to the Connect screen directly, then click the Mapping button (first screenshot below). The Mapping screen appears (second screenshot below).
- Click the Diet Orders tab.
- Locate the EHR diet order to be mapped. If needed, use the Search field or search filters.
- In the MealSuite Data Section, hover your cursor over the leftmost drop-down (the Diet Order Component drop-down) until you see the Add link.
- Click the Add link. A new row appears.
- From the leftmost drop-down in the new row, select the MealSuite diet order component to map to (Diet, Texture, Fluid, Diet Intervention). Note that if the Diet, Texture or Fluid component is already mapped for the EHR diet order, then it is not available for selection.
- From the rightmost drop-down, select the diet order type:
- If the diet order component is Texture, then select the texture type.
- If the diet order component is Fluid, then select the fluid type.
- For a diet intervention, select the diet intervention. Note that more than one diet intervention can be selected if considered appropriate. Alternatively, you have the option to create a new intervention by selecting the Create New Diet Intervention option. If you create a new diet intervention, then after clicking Save, you will also be required to open the diet intervention and add customizations to it; to do so see Modifying a Diet Intervention.
- If the diet order component is Texture, then select the texture type.
- Repeat steps 7 and 8 to create other mappings. As noted, you can map an unlimited number of diet interventions for a PCC diet order.
- At the top right of the screen click Save to apply your changes.
Note the Following
- If you had created a new diet intervention (by selecting the Create New Diet Intervention option), then you will also be required to open the diet intervention and add customizations to it; to do so see Modifying a Diet Intervention.
- If the flexible diet order mapping results in an invalid diet order, then a message appears to indicate such (screenshot below). You can still save the mapping, but the diet order will continue to be invalid until resolved. For more on the different reasons why a diet order can be invalid, and steps to resolve, see Invalid Diet Orders.
