Modifying an Existing Diet Intervention

Changing the Name and/or Description of an Intervention

1. Open the diet intervention, and then open its General Settings section for editing (see Opening an Existing Diet Intervention for Editing). 
   
   
    
2. Change the name and/or description as needed. Note that the Diet Intervention Display Name is the user-friendly name for the intervention that will appear on people reports and in the Standard Diet Intervention field on a resident/patient profile. 
    
3. Click Save Changes to apply your changes. 

Assigning/Unassigning Diet Type/Texture Type Combinations to Intervention

1. Open the diet intervention, and then open its Valid For section for editing (see Opening an Existing Diet Intervention for Editing). 
   
   
    
2. Select the diet type and texture type combinations the intervention is valid for by selecting the check boxes of the desired combinations. When doing so, note the following:
    
   • Do not select a diet type that is contradictory to the purpose of the intervention. For example, if you have a “Low Sodium” diet intervention, then it would be contradictory to apply it to the "No Added Salt" diet type because that diet type exists to support recipes with no added salt (via a recipe's diet order extension grid). As another example, if you have a “No Pork or Beef” diet intervention, then it would be contradictory to apply it to the "Vegetarian" diet type because that diet type exists to support recipes with no meat (via a recipe's diet order extension grid).
   • The regular diet type/regular texture type is selected by default.
   • You can select a whole diet type row or a whole texture type column by clicking the respective header.
   • If a diet/texture combination square is not published in your account, then its respective grid states Unpublished Combination. However, you can still select the combination to be included in the menu report by clicking the square.
      
3. To unassign a diet type/texture type combination from the intervention, either click the x of the diet/texture combination label above the grid, or clear the diet/texture combination checkbox from the grid. 
    
4. Click Save Changes to apply your changes. If the intervention was modified to remove a diet/texture type combination, and the intervention is currently assigned to one or more resident/patient profiles who also is assigned the same diet/texture type combination, then the following message appears stating that the affected profiles will be set with an invalid diet order. The message gives you the option of clicking Cancel (i.e., do not proceed) or Save anyway (i.e., proceed). 
   
   

Adding a Personal Menu Item to a Diet Intervention

To add a personal menu item to a diet intervention: 

1. Open the diet intervention, and then open its Customization section for editing (see Opening an Existing Diet Intervention for Editing). 
    
2. From the Add Customizations button/drop-down, click Add Personal Menu Item (first screenshot below). The Add Personal Menu Items screen appears (second screenshot below). 
   
   
   
   
    
3. At this point, rather than repeat the instructions on adding a personal menu item, please refer to the existing article Adding a Personal Menu Item, starting at step 3.
    
4. After the personal menu item is added, click the Save Changes button on the Edit: Customizations screen. If the intervention is currently assigned to one or more resident/patient profiles, a message appears stating that the intervention will be updated for those profiles. The message gives you the option of clicking Cancel (i.e., do not proceed) or Save (i.e., proceed).

Adding a Fallback Substitute to a Diet Intervention

To add a fallback substitute to a diet intervention: 

1. Open the diet intervention, and then open its Customization section for editing (see Opening an Existing Diet Intervention for Editing). 
    
2. From the Add Customizations button/drop-down, click Add Fallback Substitute (first screenshot below). The Add Fallback Substitutes screen appears (second screenshot below). 
   
   
   
   
    
3. At this point, rather than repeat the instructions on adding a fallback substitute, please refer to the existing article Adding a Fallback Substitute to a Day/Meal Period/Menu Category Instance, starting at step 3.
    
4. After the fallback substitute item is added, click the Save Changes button on the Edit: Customizations screen. If the intervention is currently assigned to one or more resident/patient profiles, a message appears stating that the intervention will be updated for those profiles. The message gives you the option of clicking Cancel (i.e., do not proceed) or Save (i.e., proceed).

Adding Serving Size Adjustment to a Diet Intervention

To add a serving size adjustment to a diet intervention:

1. Open the diet intervention, and then open its Customization section for editing (see Opening an Existing Diet Intervention for Editing). 
    
2. From the Add Customizations button/drop-down, click Add Serving Size Adjustment (first screenshot below). The Add Serving Size Adjustment window appears (second screenshot below). 
   
   
   
   
    
3. At this point, rather than repeat the instructions on adding a serving size adjustment, please refer to the existing article Adjusting Serving Size for a Resident/Patient's Personal Menu starting at step 3.
    
4. After the serving size adjustment is added, click the Save Changes button on the Edit: Customizations screen. If the intervention is currently assigned to one or more resident/patient profiles, a message appears stating that the intervention will be updated for those profiles. The message gives you the option of clicking Cancel (i.e., do not proceed) or Save (i.e., proceed). 
   
   

Adding a "Do Not Serve" Customization to the Diet Intervention

To add a "do not serve" customization to a diet intervention: 

1. Open the diet intervention, and then open its Customization section for editing (see Opening an Existing Diet Intervention for Editing). 
    
2. From the Add Customizations button/drop-down, click Add Do Not Serve (first screenshot below). The Add Serving Size Adjustment window appears (second screenshot below). 
   
   
   
   
    
3. Your next steps are to configure the type of "do not serve" customization. Depending on the customization type, please refer to its appropriate separate article via the provided links. 
   • A meal period (breakfast, lunch, dinner) or snack time (snack am, snack pm, snack hs) can be marked as do not serve. See Marking a Meal Period or Snack Time as DNS for a Resident/Patient, starting at step 3. 
   • A menu category of a meal period or snack time can me marked as do not serve. See Marking a Menu Category (or Categories) of a Meal Period or Snack Time as DNS for a Resident/Patient, starting at step 3. 
   • A preference group can be marked as do not serve. See Marking a Preference Group as DNS for a Resident/Patient, starting at step 3. 
      
4. After the do not serve customization is added, click the Save Changes button on the Edit: Customizations screen. If the intervention is currently assigned to one or more resident/patient profiles, a message appears stating that the intervention will be updated for those profiles. The message gives you the option of clicking Cancel (i.e., do not proceed) or Save (i.e., proceed). 
   
   

Editing an Existing Customization in a Diet Intervention

1. Open the diet intervention, and then open its Customization section for editing (see Opening an Existing Diet Intervention for Editing). 
   
   
    
2. For the customization to be edited, click its ellipsis and select Edit (first screenshot below). A pop-up window specific to the customization appears for you to make your edits (second screenshot below shows the Edit Serving Size Adjustment pop-up). 
   
   
   
    
    
3. Make your edits as needed to the customization, and then click Save to close the window. 
    
4. Click the Save Changes button on the Edit: Customizations screen. If the intervention is currently assigned to one or more resident/patient profiles, a message appears stating that the intervention will be updated for those profiles. The message gives you the option of clicking Cancel (i.e., do not proceed) or Save (i.e., proceed). 
   
   

Deleting a Customization from an Intervention

1. Open the diet intervention, and then open its Customization section for editing (see Opening an Existing Diet Intervention for Editing). 
   
   
    
2. For the customization to be deleted, click its ellipsis and select Delete. Click Delete to the confirmation message that appears (second screenshot below). Note that if the intervention is assigned to any resident/patient profiles, the confirmation message indicates the number of affected profiles. YThe message gives you the option of clicking Cancel (i.e., do not proceed) or Delete (i.e., proceed).
