About the Week-at-a-Glance (WaaG) View
For a standard menu, snack menu, and an also available (AA) menu set as weekly menu, the week-at-a-glance (WaaG) view displays the menu items being served each day of the week for each meal period, along with the option of viewing items of other menu types scheduled at the same time.

Opening WaaG View
To open the WaaG view for a menu:
- From the left navigation sidebar, select Menus & Recipes > Menu Listing. The Menus screen appears.
-
Locate the menu you want to view and click its menu name. The week-at-glance (WaaG) screen appears.
Notes
- If the menu is active, then the WaaG opens to the current week of the menu’s cycle. The current week and date range appear in the Week field at the top of the screen. If the menu is not scheduled, then the WaaG opens to week 1.
- If your menu is active, then the dates appear in each column header. If your menu is not active, then just the names of the day appear.
- If the menu is a single day menu (i.e., special event menu or an also available (AA) menu set as a single day menu), then only the meal periods are listed.
- The weekly view is from Monday to Sunday. It cannot be changed from Sunday to Saturday.
Filter Options
The filter options at the top right of the screen are available to determine what menu items display on the WaaG.
- Week - view the week of a menu cycle by selecting the week from this field.
- Choice - display items by their assigned choice. More than one choice can be selected.
- Diet (for a non-liquid extended menu) - allows you to view the menu items being offered for a diet type.
-
Texture (for a non-liquid extended menu) - allows you to view the menu items being offered for a texture type.
-
Diet Liquid (for a liquid extended menu) - select the liquid diet type to display the items assigned to that liquid diet.
Display Options
The Display Options at the top right allow you to customize what is displayed on the WaaG. Note that some of the display options are not available depending on your account, the menu type, and if other menu types are scheduled or not.
Viewing Portion Size
Select the View Portion Size check box to display the portion size beside each item.
Including Snack Items
If a Snack menu is scheduled at the same time and at the same menu service location, then by selecting the Include Snack check box the snack items appear in the WaaG in the Snack AM, Snack PM and Snack HS sections.
Including Also Available Items
If an Also Available menu is scheduled at the same time and at the same menu service location, then its items appear for the meal service (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner). An Also Available item is identified with the orange circle.
Displaying Excluded Items (i.e., Do Not Serve Items)
When the Display Excluded Items option is selected, then items that are set as do not serve on the therapeutic extension grid are shown for the diet type and texture type selected for the WaaG view. Items set as do not serve are in red text and caveated with the text "Do Not Serve".
Displaying Costs
Selecting the Display Cost option displays costs on the menu for each meal/snack and each day. For more information on how costs are displayed, see Displaying Costs on the Menu.
Displaying Either the Lookup Name or Display Name of Recipes
- Selecting the Look Up Name option displays the look up name (i.e., system name) of the recipe.
- Selecting the Display Name option displays the display name (i.e., user-friendly name) of the recipe.
Sorting by Menu Category or Choices
- Selecting the Menu Category option displays items by their assigned menu category.
- Selecting the Choices option displays items by their assigned choice (second screenshot below). Note that viewing by choice offers a cleaner view, and many long-term care homes use this view.
Extension Editor Settings
If the menu is an extended menu (i.e., supports therapeutic substitute recipes), then you can determine if the extension grid automatically appears or not when you add a menu item.
- Auto-Open - select this option if the menu item extension grid will automatically appear when adding a menu item to allow you to update its therapeutic extensions.
- Manual - select this option to not have the menu item extension grid automatically appear when adding a menu item. You can later access the extension grid of the menu item to update its therapeutic extensions.
Selecting Menu Categories to Display
Expand/Collapse Meal Period Sections
You can expand/collapse a meal period section by clicking its down arrow on the right of the meal period header.
Viewing Offerings for Diet/Texture Types on WaaG View
A menu can be set up as an extended menu, which means it supports recipes that have been extended with substitutions for the various diet type/texture type combinations set up in your account.
Assuming your menu is an extended menu, then both the week-at-a-glance (WaaG) view and menu day view allow you to view the menu items being offered for the diet type/texture type combinations. This article explains how to view diet/textures on the WaaG.
Note: The menu items being offered for a specific diet type/texture type combination are added as part of a recipe’s extension grid, which can be done from the recipe itself or from the menu item.
To view diet/texture type offerings on the WaaG view:
- Open the week-at-a-glance (WaaG) view for the menu.
- At the top right corner of the screen, select the desired diet type and texture type from the respective Diet type and Texture type fields. The WaaG view refreshes with menu items that are offered for the selected diet/texture types.
If an Item is DNS
If the item for the diet/texture combination is set to do not serve on the therapeutic extension grid for the regular item, then that item is indicated as "Do Not Serve" and appears in red text. Note: To display do-not-serve items onscreen, ensure the Display Excluded Items option is selected from the Display Options.
If an Item is Recommended to be Restricted
If the diet type is configured with recommended restricted items, and a recommended restricted item was selected for that diet type, then the recommended restricted item appears in red text with the diet conflict icon () to alert you of the conflict.
Hovering your cursor over the icon display details of the conflict.
To clear the conflict, you can update the diet type with the appropriate recipe substitute (see Working in a Menu Item Extension Grid).
