You can configure certain settings that will be applied when EHR messages are processed by a MealSuite Connect interface. For example, when an EHR discharge message is received, do you want the Connect interface to archive the person in your MealSuite account or delete the person from your MealSuite account?
Before using your MealSuite Connect interface, it is highly recommended to first configure the interface settings to what is required for your MealSuite account. This will save you time from having to manually and individually make changes to each people profile when you begin receiving EHR messages for them. Interface settings are configured via the Connect Settings screen. To access the Connect Settings screen:
- Open the Connect screen (People > Connect).
- Click the Settings button. The Connect Settings screen appears as a slide-out panel.
- After making any changes, ensure to click Save at the top right of the slide-out panel.
A Connect interface is associated with a people group. Each people group associated with a Connect interface is listed so that you can individually configure its settings. The settings are described as follows:
Setting | Description |
New Admits are matched against |
When a new patient admit message is received, does the interface match it against both active and archived (Active & Archive) people profiles in MealSuite, or only active (Active Only) profiles in MealSuite? Note: If admit message is received for a person who was archived as a result of ignoring the room, the interface will match it against the archived profiles, regardless if the Active Only option is selected. |
Match New Admits using |

When returning from Archive apply |
If a resident is archived as a result of a discharge message, and then readmitted via an admit message, their profile will be returned from archive (i.e., unarchived). In such a scenario, you have the following options to set their diet order:
Note: The previous (i.e., active) diet order is applied to the resident-- regardless if Default Diet Order setting is selected--in the following scenarios:
|
Discharged People are |
Is a discharged person archived or deleted from your account? |
Deceased People are |
Is a deceased person archived or deleted from your account? |
Process Intolerances as |
When a new intolerance is received by the EHR, it can be processed in one of two ways via the following options:
|
Auto Acknowledge |
You can set up your account to automatically acknowledge certain messages. When a message is set to be automatically acknowledged it means you do not have to manually acknowledge the message. Note that the options below that can be available from the Auto Acknowledge drop-down depend on the messages supported by the Connect interface.
Note: Selecting an auto-acknowledge option from above will only apply to any future messages that are received. Any existing messages that are currently unacknowledged will remain unacknowledged until manually acknowledged. |
Leave of Absence (A21 & A22) |
When LOA messages are processed by MealSuite, it will display the off-premise icon on for the person’s profile and mark the person as off-premise. You can choose to ignore LOA messages, which means MealSuite will not display the off-premise icon or mark the person as off-premise. |
Acknowledge ADT messages without Review |
This setting is applicable if the above Auto Acknowledge setting is set to either Only Demographic updates (A08) or Acknowledge All Messages Manually, explained as follows: If the Auto Acknowledge setting above is set to Acknowledge All Messages Manually, then you will have to manually acknowledge messages. If the Auto Acknowledge setting above is set to Only Demographic updates (A08), then you will have to manually acknowledge non-demographic update messages. By default, when you manually acknowledge any message, the person's profile will open. By selecting On for the Acknowledge ADT messages without Review setting, then ADT messages can manually be acknowledged without the step of opening the person’s profile. This includes the following message types:
*If the interface supports the AL1: Patient Allergy Information segment, then allergy information can be contained in the admit and update messages. |
Enable Photo (available only for PCC) |
With Enable Photo selected, Connect will process a message with an image, and upload that image to the associated resident's profile in MealSuite. |
