In a POS quick service location, there may be the use of containers that diners will use to hold food sold by weight. For example, salad, soups, pasta, etc.
The weight of these containers must be entered into the POS system so that it can do the tare calculation and the diner only pays for the weight of the food and not the container.
To enter a container in the POS system, complete the following steps:
- In the Core system, select Settings from the left navigation sidebar. The Settings panel appears to the right.
- From the Settings panel, select Point of Sale Settings > Containers. The Containers screen appears.
- Click the Add Point of Sale Container button. The Add Container screen appears.
- Enter or select the following information:
- Name - enter a recognizable name for the container (e.g., 12 oz container)
- Revenue Centre - select the POS location from which the container will be available.
- Weight (with units_ - enter the weight of the container, and the unit of weight (ounce, gram, pound, kilogram)
- Click Save Container to apply your changes. You are returned to the Containers screen where the newly-listed container is listed.
