About Supplements
Supplements are prepared foods, usually in the form of a drink, that supplement a resident or patient's diet with the necessary nutrients.
Where are Supplements Listed in the System?
Supplements can be viewed in the Recipe Listing screen or the Foods screen.
- On the Recipe Listing screen, supplements are listed in the Recipe Category of Supplement (right-click image below to open and expand in new tab).
- On the Foods screen, supplements are listed in the Food Category of Miscellaneous (right-click image below to open and expand in new tab).
How are Supplements Assigned to a Resident or Patient?
You assign supplements to a resident or patient as personal items in their personal menu.
Before assigning a supplement as a personal item, it is first recommended to create a menu category of "Supplement" and assign it to the meal periods and snack times (see Creating a New Menu Category).
Therefore, when adding the supplement as a personal item, you can then assign the supplement to the "Supplement" menu category, as per screenshot below.

Supplements and Production Areas
You can create a "Supplements" production area (see Adding a Production Area), and assign the supplements to it (see Assigning Items to a Production Area), as per screenshot below.
A production report, therefore, can then be filtered on the "Supplements" production area (screenshot below), to show the supplements and their quantities that need to be gathered before service begins.
Alternatively, you can choose not to select the "Supplements" production area to not have the the supplements print in the report.
