This article explains how to prevent a resident or patient from being served mixed consistency foods. Examples of mixed consistency foods are canned fruit with juice (the fruit and juice are different consistencies), and soup (the soup ingredients and broth are different consistencies).
The means to not serve mixed consistency foods to a resident / patient is via the following configuration:
- Create a Likes & Dislikes group named "Mixed Consistencies" and add the foods with mixed consistencies (ingredients, prepared foods, recipes). See the following articles to do so:
- Create a diet intervention named "No Mixed Consistencies" and assign the Like & Dislikes Group "Mixed Consistencies" to it as a "do not serve". See the following articles to do so:
- With the diet intervention "No Mixed Consistencies" created, you can then assign it to the people profiles who cannot be served mixed consistency foods (as per their assigned diet type and texture type). See the following article to do so: Assigning a Diet Intervention to a Person.
- With the diet intervention "No Mixed Consistencies" assigned to the necessary people profiles, now mixed consistency foods will be excluded (i.e., do not serve) from their personal menus. If needed, you can enter substitute items for those excluded foods on the personal menus. See the following article to do so: Replacing Item with Specific Substitute.
