About the Nutrient Analysis View of a Personal Menu
The system automatically calculates the nutrient totals of the offerings on a resident/patient's personal menu in real time, immediately considering any personal menu customizations (i.e., personal menu items, substitutions, serving size adjustments, DNS).
Viewing Nutrient Analysis for a Personal Menu
To view the real-time nutrient analysis for the personal menu of a resident/patient, complete the following steps:
-
Open the resident/patient's personal menu.
- From the Week field (screenshot below), select the week for which you want to view nutrient values.
- Click the Nutrient Analysis button (first screenshot below). The Nutrient Analysis slide-out panel appears (second screenshot below), displaying the average value of each nutrient for the selected week.
- Note the following:
- The average is calculated by summing a nutrient amount for each choice selection and dividing by the number of choice selections the menu supports.
- If a Snack menu is active, then its items are automatically included in the calculations. To not include snack items, clear the Include Snacks check box.
- If an Also Available (AA) menu is active, then its items are automatically included in the calculations.
- For residents/patients on the table select or advanced ordering service type, you can preclude AA items; to do so clear the Include Also Available Items check box.
- For the non-select service type, AA items cannot be precluded (the Include Also Available Items check box cannot be cleared). The nutrient analysis for a non-select service type is calculated based on the system selection logic, which utilizes the AA menu (see Non-Select Service Type: Item Selection Logic for a Personal Menu for more information).
- The Nutrient Analysis panel displays nutrient values from the following groups (scroll down the panel to view the groups):
- MacroNutrients
- Minerals
- Vitamins
- Fatty Acids
- When a nutrient value is within its parameter range, meaning above the minimum value and below the maximum value, the Total cell appears in green. Hovering your cursor over the cell indicates what the ideal value is for the nutrient.
- When a nutrient value is not within its parameter range, either below the minimum value or above the maximum value, the Total cell appears in red. Hovering your cursor over the cell indicates the recommended maximum if over, or the recommended minimum if under.
- Note the following:
- The nutrient value parameters (i.e., the minimum, ideal and maximum values) are set for a diet type via Tools & Setup > Diet Orders (see Viewing/Changing Nutritional Parameters of a Diet Type for more information).
- Most nutrient values in the Nutrient Analysis view are rounded to the whole number (e.g., 50 kcal).
For Advanced Ordering Service Types: Viewing Nutrient Analysis of Ordered Items
If the resident/patient is on the advanced ordering service type, then you can view the nutrient analysis of items that have been ordered on a front-end ordering app (Touch app or Portal app). To do so, select Only Ordered Items from the Analyze drop-down.
Viewing Nutrient Values for a Choice Selection (Only for Table Select and Advanced Ordering Service Types)
For residents/patients on the table select or advanced ordering service type, then when on the Nutrient Analysis view, you can view the nutrient values for items of a specific choice selection. To do so, select the choice selection from the Analyze drop-down.
Viewing Nutrient Values for a Day of the Week
When on the Nutrient Analysis view, you can view the nutrient values for a specific day of the week by clicking the respective day tab.
Analyzing Nutrients of Specific Menu Items (i.e., Detailed Analysis)
The Detailed Analysis view allows you to view nutrient values for each menu item. In addition, the nutrient values in the Detailed Analysis view are rounded up to to decimal points to allow a dietitian to view such details (e.g., 71.58 kcal). To run the Detailed Analysis view:
- Follow the above steps to open the Nutrient Analysis view for a personal menu.
- Click the Detailed Analysis button (first screenshot below). The Detailed Analysis window appears for Monday, listing each menu item and the values for each nutrient (second screenshot below).
- You can scroll through the nutrients via the forward and back buttons.
- From the Nutrients to Display drop-down, select the nutrients to display.
- From the Analyze drop-down, select the choice selection of the menu items you want to view.
- Select the day to view via the respective day tab.
FAQs
When is nutrient analysis for a personal menu not calculated?
The nutrient analysis for a personal menu is not calculated for the following scenarios:
- If the resident/patient is on off-premise (i.e., LOA).
- If the resident/patient has been set up with no meal service.
- If the resident/patient is on the advanced ordering service type and has refused/skipped a meal.
Note that if any of the above conditions are met, then the appropriate label (Off Premise, No Meal, or Refused Meal) appears for that day/meal period in which the nutrient analysis is not being calculated. The example screenshot below is displaying the No Meal label for Thursday lunch.
