Allowing Pop-Ups for your Menu Reports
If you attempt to generate a report, and nothing happens, then that most likely means pop-ups are being blocked on your browser. You can allow pop-ups by clicking the "Pop-up blocked" icon in the browser address bar, as per screenshot below.
If prompted to allow pop-ups, select the "Always allow" option.
To prevent the browser in the first place from blocking pop-ups, you can set up the browser to allow pop-ups. Instructions to do so can be found in the following article: Allowing Pop-Ups on your Browser.
Generating a Menu Report
To generate a menu report:
- Ensure your browser is allowing pop-ups. See Allowing Pop-Ups on your Browser.
-
Select the menu and its settings that you want to run the report for.
- Apply the specific report settings for each menu report you want to generate.
- Click the Generate button at the top of the screen.
- You are presented with the message below stating that you can use other areas of the software while your report generates.
Note: If nothing happens when you click Generate, ensure that you are allowing pop-ups for your browser. See Allowing Pop-Ups for your Menu Reports.
- If you don't click the Yes, Send Report To My Dashboard And Notify Me When Ready button, then the report will open in a separate browser tab after it generates.
- If you do click the Yes, Send Report To My Dashboard And Notify Me When Ready button, the system will notify you when the report is ready (first screenshot below), allowing you to download it now, or dismiss the message and later retrieve the report from the Notifications and Alerts section (i.e., dashboard) on the home page (second screenshot below).
Note that the dashboard notification only appears to the user who generated the report and expires after 24 hours. Also note that if you are required to log out of the system, or if your browser session ends, the reports will continue to generate and be available from the home page for 24 hours.
Note: The home page is accessed by clicking the logo at the top left of the screen.

I click "Generate", but nothing happens?
If you attempt to generate a report, and nothing happens, then that most likely means pop-ups are being blocked on your browser. You can allow pop-ups by clicking the "Pop-up blocked" icon in the browser address bar, as per screenshot below.
If prompted to allow pop-ups, select the "Always allow" option.

Items are missing when printing my menu report?
In the base settings for menu reports, ensure that the categories of the missing items are selected.
If the missing items are therapeutic substitute items, then it most likely means the regular item has not been extended with the therapeutic substitute items. To do so, see Working in a Menu Item Extension Grid.
How do I print for a single meal service (e.g., Lunch)?
In the base settings for menu reports, clear (i.e., deselect) all the menu categories of the other meal services.
An item is showing on my menu reports but I do not see it in my menu day view or menu WaaG view?
Possible Reason 1: When viewing your menu in the WaaG view, it could be that not all of the menu categories are displayed, and therefore you are not seeing items assigned to those "hidden" menu categories. On the WaaG view, open the Display Options and ensure the desired menu categories are displayed.
Possible Reason 2: When adding items to a menu (see Adding Items to a Menu), you are required to add the item to the regular diet order (i.e., regular diet type and regular texture type), and then extend that item with the therapeutic substitutes (either via the extension grid of the recipe itself or via the extension grid of the menu item).
However, it is also possible to add an item directly to non-regular diet orders on the menu (but not recommended). Therefore, if an item was added directly to a non-regular diet order on the menu, it will only be visible on the menu if you select its associated diet order (i.e., diet type and texture type) via the Diet/Texture button (either on the menu day view or WaaG view).
For a menu report, an item that was added directly to a non-regular diet order on the menu will appear in the report if the same non-regular diet order of that item is selected in the report base settings. As such it may not be obvious to you why that item is appearing.
If required to remove an item from a non-regular diet order on the menu, complete the following steps:
- Open the menu day view.
- Click the Diet/Texture button and select the desired diet type and texture type.
- An item that was added to a non-regular diet order appears with the icon shown below:
- To remove the item, click its solid red remove icon (
).
. *If required to serve an item only on a therapeutic diet order without serving its associated regular item on the menu, see Serving Item for only a Specific Therapeutic Diet Order (i.e., not as a Regular Item).
Do recipe photos/images print on the menu reports?
At this time, the only menu report that supports the printing of recipe photos/images is the Recipe Cookbook Report (Menus) .
Also note that the following recipe report prints the recipe photos/images: Scaled Recipe Report (Recipes).
Can I print the recipe ID associated with a recipe?
No. At this time, the recipe ID cannot be printed.
A workaround is to add the recipe ID to the display name of the recipe.
Another workaround is print the recipes from the Recipe Listing screen via the following steps:
- Open the Recipe Listing screen,
- Ensure the Recipe ID column is set to display.
- Customize the recipes you want to export using the available filters.
- Export the list to an Excel® file.
The names of menu items (i.e., recipes) in my report do not match what I see on my menu WaaG view or menu day view?
When viewing the menu WaaG view or the menu day view, then via the Display Options settings, you have the option to display menu items (i.e., recipes) by their lookup name (i.e., system name) or display name (i.e., user-facing name).
- When generating the WaaG Menu report, the Print By setting allows you to print either the recipe lookup names or the recipe display names. Therefore, the Print By setting does not match the Display Options settings in your WaaG view or menu day view.
- For all other menu reports, the recipes are printed by their display names. Therefore, it most likely means the Display Options settings in you WaaG view or menu day view is set to display by recipe lookup names.
Is there a way to print a meal service menu (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for a month on one page? For example, a breakfast menu for June on one page.
No.
You are only able to generate a meal service for a week, which is done via the Week-at-a-Glance (WaaG) Report (Menus).
Is there a report of allergies for a menu being used?
No, not at this time. An alternate solution is to use the Recipes Listing screen as follows:
- Open the Recipes Listing screen.
- Ensure the Allergens column is set to display.
- Use the Search by Menu filter to select the desired menu, and then click GO to display its recipes list onscreen.
- Export the recipe list to an Excel® file.
What report shows DNS as an extension (i.e., diet type/texture type)?
You can run the Diet Extensions / Therapeutic Spreadsheet Report (Menus) to see which items are set as DNS for a selected extension (i.e., diet type/texture type).
Alternatively, you can open the menu week-at-a-glance (WaaG) view to see items that are DNS for a selected diet type/texture type. See Viewing Offerings for Diet/Texture Types on WaaG View and ensure the Display Excluded Items option is selected in the Display Options.
How do I rename/reword a menu item so that it is better understood by resident/patients?
See the following article: Changing Display Name, Description, or Image of a Menu Item.
Does a menu have to be scheduled to run a report against it?
For Menu Allergens report and the Temporary Replacements report, the menu must be currently-active or future-scheduled to run the report.
For all other menu reports, a menu does not have to be scheduled to run a report against it.
When I select the settings for a report, are those settings saved for the next time I run the report?
Yes. Settings for each report are saved for the next time you visit the Reports screen to run a report. Note, however, if you clear you browser cache, the report settings will be lost.
Can I print a menu report for just a single selected day?
No. The most suitable report would be the Daily Display Menus report, which prints the menu items for each day of the week that is selected in the menu report settings. However, there is no filter to select just a single day.
