About Liked Items
Liked items on a person’s personal menu will aid in the order taking process.
- For a person with the table select service type, items marked as likes enable the server to learn the person’s preferences and make suggestions accordingly. For example, “Chicken alfredo is being served for dinner? Would you like to order this item?”
- For a person with the advanced ordering service type, items marked as likes aid the person in their order-taking process by quickly identifying their preferences on the menu.
Note: At this time in the MealSuite system for the Non-Select Logic: Serve Choice 1 Items Before Other Choices, marking items as likes for a person will not give that item priority to be served. For example, marking a choice 2 item as a like will not give it priority to be served over a choice 1 item that is neutral. To have a choice 2 item served over a choice 1 item, mark the choice 1 item as a dislike.
Marking an Individual Item as a Like
- Open the person’s personal menu.
- Click on the item you want to mark as a like. The Customize pop-up window appears.
- Click the Like icon (
). The Likes pop-up window appears.
- The individual item is selected by default. Click the Save button. The item is marked as a like with the green thumbs up icon.
Unmarking an Item as a Like
When an item is marked as a like, it is then considered a customization in the person's personal menu. Therefore to unmark an item as a like (i.e. "undo" or remove the like), the "like" personal menu customization will need to be removed. To remove a personal menu customization, see Removing a Personal Menu Customization.
Marking a Likes & Dislikes Group as a Like
A Likes & Dislikes group can be marked as a like on a person’s personal menu, meaning all recipes and prepared foods in that group will be marked as likes for the person.
To mark a Likes & Dislikes group as a like, complete the following steps:
- Open the person’s personal menu.
- At the top right corner, click the settings tool. The customization slide-out panel appears.
- The Diet Order field by default displays the person’s currently-assigned diet order (diet type and texture type), which is indicated by the blue user icon. You can only add a personal customization to the person’s currently assigned diet order, so therefore ensure it is selected in the Diet Order field.
If the person’s currently-assigned diet order consists of different texture types for meal periods and snack times, then those texture types (combined with the primary diet type) are available in the Diet Order field with the blue user icon, as per screenshot below. Therefore personal customizations can be added to them. (For more on what diet orders are displayed in the Diet Order field, see Viewing Personal Menu Customization Grid > Diet Order Field).
- Click Add New > Like(s). The Likes pop-up window appears.
- The top field contains the Likes & Dislikes groups. From the field, select the Likes & Dislikes group you want to mark as a like. Note: A Likes & Dislikes group is not available if it is has previously been marked as a dislike. If a desired Likes & Dislikes group is not available, and you know has not been already marked as a dislike, see Don't See a Desired Likes & Dislikes Group? below.
- The second field contains the meal periods and snack times to give you the option of selecting specific meal periods/snack times the liked item appears in. For example, if the Caffeine Likes & Dislikes group is applied to only breakfast, then coffee will appear as liked in breakfast, but not appear as liked in lunch or dinner.
Note: If the person’s currently-assigned diet order consists of different texture types for meal periods and snack times, then those texture types (combined with the primary diet type) are available from the Diet Order field for you to select (step 3 above). The second field in the pop-up therefore only displays the meal periods/snack times the selected texture type is associated with.
- The third field contains the menu categories to give you the option of selecting specific menu categories the liked item appears in. For example, if the Caffeine Likes & Dislikes group is applied to only the Beverages menu category, then coffee will appear as liked in if in the Beverages category, but not appears as a liked in any other menu category. Note: the categories that are available depend on the meal periods and snack times selected in the field above.
- Click the Save button to apply your changes. The newly-added like is added to the personal menu. Any items within that group appear with the green thumbs up icon.
Don't See a Desired Likes & Dislikes Group?
A Likes & Dislikes group is not available if it is has previously been marked as a dislike. If in step 5 above a desired Likes & Dislikes group is not available, and you know it has not been marked as a dislike, then first confirm if the Likes & Dislikes group is available in your account for use; see Displaying the Likes & Dislikes Groups Available to your Account.
If the desired Likes & Dislikes group is available in your account, it could be that it is unpublished. If so, an unpublished Likes & Dislikes group is not available to be marked as a like. If your account owns the Likes & Dislikes group, then you can republish it; see Publishing a Likes & Dislikes Group. If a parent account instead owns the Likes & Dislikes group, then your account will not be able to republish it; please reach out to your parent account for them to publish the Likes & Dislikes group.
You also have the option of creating a Likes & Dislikes group and adding items to it. To do so, see Creating a Likes & Dislikes Group.
Unmarking a Likes & Dislikes Group as a Like
When a Likes & Dislikes group is marked as a like, it is then considered a customization in the person's personal menu. Therefore to unmark a Like & Dislikes group as a like (i.e., "undo" or remove the like), the "like" personal menu customization will need to be removed. To remove a personal menu customization, see Removing a Personal Menu Customization.
