Unscheduling a Menu
The workflow to unschedule a menu has been simplified. There now exists an Unschedule link in the Start date & Forecasting tab when you open the menu settings. See “Unscheduling” a Menu for more information and the updated workflow steps.
When a Menu Template Does not Exist for a Menu Type
If there is no menu template published by any parent/grandparent accounts for a specific menu type, then when clicking that menu type tab on the Menu Templates screen, the screen indicates such with a message, and informs you that you can create a menu for that menu type via the Menus Listing screen (either by Making a Copy of a Menu or Creating a New Menu from Scratch).
Previously, if there was no menu template published by any parent/grandparent accounts for a specific menu type, then the menu type tab was simply not available on the Menu Templates screen.
Populating Shopping Cart from Production: New Filter
When populating a shopping cart by adding items from production, the new filter of Exclude Personal Menu Items has been added to the Add Items from Production modal. When selected, then any personal menu items added to resident/patient profiles will not be included in the shopping cart.
May 12 - Recipe Labor and Cost
Skill Level and Preparation Time for a Recipe (i.e., Recipe Labor)
When reviewing master recipes to select for your menu, you can easily view the skill level and preparation time required to create the recipe (aka recipe labor). Having knowledge of the skill level and preparation time helps you select recipes that are suitable for your staff resources.
A recipe presents with easy-to-ready tags that indicate the skill level and preparation time. By viewing these tags, you are prevented from having to read through the full recipe to understand its complexity. See Skill Level and Preparation Time for a Recipe (i.e., Recipe Labor).
Recipe Labor Cost
You have the option to applying labor costs to recipes. If so, the cost for one recipe serving (i.e., estimated serving size) includes both the food cost and the labor cost, and will be shown at the top left of an open recipe (first screenshot below) or the Labor Cost column on the Recipes Listing screen (second screenshot below).
By including recipe labor costs, you are better able to assess the budget when building a menu (see Menu Costs and Budgeting for more information).
May 12 - Registered Dietitian (RD) Signatures
Per state regulations, a facility must serve a menu approved by a registered dietitian (RD). The system now allows a digital signature from an RD to be applied to a menu to certify that the menu meets dietary regulations and requirements for the state.
RD signatures are applied to menus owned by a corporate parent account for their child facility accounts to copy those menus to their accounts (via the Menu Templates screen). In addition, if a facility does have an RD on site, then that facility can easily apply the RD signature to their own menus.
See:
- Working with Menus with an RD Signature at the Corporate Level
- Working with Menus with an RD Signature at the Unit Level
May 12 - Updated UI for People Reports
A new UI has been introduced for the People Reports screens! Clearer selections, smarter defaults and better organization will make it faster to find the right report and generate it with confidence. You’ll spend less navigating, and more time getting the insights you need. See:
- Menus and Tray Tickets
- Food Service Reports
- Profile Reports and Lists
- Personal Menu Nutrient Analysis
May 12 - Menu Budgeting and Cost Analysis Improvements
- When setting the sensitivity for when the Over Budget alert appears on the Menus Listing screen, the UI has been updated, and new explanatory text has been updated and displayed directly onscreen (rather than a tooltip) to allow for a clearer understanding of the functionality.
- On the Menu Cost Analysis screen, additional highlighting has been added to make it easier to identify when there are over budget instances:
- If budgeting by a daily food amount per resident, then when at least one choice selection in a day is over budget, then its week row is highlighted.
- If budgeting by meal period amount per resident, then when at least one meal is overbudget in the week, then the meal row will be highlighted (excluding the budget column cell).
- If any day within a week exceeds the meal budget then that week row will also be highlighted (excluding the budget column cell).
- If budgeting by a daily food amount per resident, then when at least one choice selection in a day is over budget, then its week row is highlighted.
- On the Menu Cost Analysis screen, when a day is over budget, its associated Week is now a link that when clicked opens the week-at-a-glance (WaaG) view.
May 12 - Migration of Touch Admin Reports to Core System
The following reports are now available to be run from the Core system (rather than the Touch Admin software):
- Diner Facing Statement (for Bill-to-Room and Meal Plan Transactions)
- Presence and Well Being Report (for the Touch App and POS)
- Order History Report (from Front-End Ordering Apps)
May 12 - French Language Support for Canadian Accounts
Synergy Tech Suite supports French translation of the platform. Reach out to MealSuite Support to have French translation enabled for you account.
When enabling French language for your account, inform MealSuite Support if French or English is to be the default language of the account when logging in. Regardless of the default language, an individual user can easily toggle between each language depending on their preference.
In addition, when working with reports, a separate language toggle allows you to select the desired language to generate the report in regardless of the platform language.
More about French translation:
- Translations are generated dynamically using advanced machine learning models. While we strive for high accuracy, translations, especially those involving abbreviations, may not always be precise. Efforts to refine translation quality are ongoing.
- User-inputted data, such as notes entered for resident/patient profiles and reports, are not translated by the system.
May 5 - Migration of Certain Touch Admin Functions to the Core System
The following functions are now available in the Core system (note that functions with INTERNAL are locked to MealSuite employees only):
- Digital Menu Board
- Touch App report presets (i.e., default settings):
- POS Devices:
- Printers:
- Lane/3000 and iPP320 PIN Pads:
- PAX Terminals:
- Portal configuration (INTERNAL)
- Menu website configuration (INTERNAL)
What Do I Need to Do?
When opening a screen for a function that has been migrated, a message banner appears at the top of the screen stating that the experience has been improved, along with an Try [Function] button.
Already Have Core Account Access?
If you already have an active user profile to your Core account, then when clicking the Try [Function] button, a message appears stating that the function has moved to your Core account with a button that takes you directly to the Core login screen.
Do Not Have Core Account Access?
If you do not have Core account access, or you do but your Core account user profile is inactive, then when clicking the Try [Function] button, a message appears prompting you to link your Core account by entering your email address and first and last name.
If you do have Core account access, but your user profile was inactive, you'll be prompted to check for an email and click the This was me, accept and link my logins button which will reactivate your Core account access, and automatically redirect you to the Core login screen.
If you do not have Core account access for the email address entered, you'll be prompted to create a Core account user profile via the form below. No welcome email will be sent, and you will be automatically redirected to the Core login screen.
Are the Functions Still Available in the Touch Admin Software?
Yes. The above functions will still be available in the Touch Admin software. However, they will eventually be removed at a future date; therefore it is strongly encouraged to use the functions in the Core system.
Also note that regardless of which system you use, the data will be the same (i.e., making a change in one system also updates the other system). The Core system and the Touch Admin system are front-end platforms, whereas the data is from a single back-end source.
To access the help article for an above function that is now in the Core system, click its link.
